Denise Dowse is reportedly in a coma following her battle with meningitis.
Denise Dowse In Coma Following Battle With Meningitis
According to the star’s sister Tracey Dowse, Denise had been hospitalised with meningitis after concerns that her health was in a bad place.
Meningitis is a condition that results from the inflammation of the fluid in the body that can occur following an infection. But in order to remain positive, Tracey called on the public to show their support.
In a post on Instagram, Tracey shared a picture of Denise. The post was captioned by the following comments: “I am requesting support and prayers be offered me and my sister, and my only immediate family @denisedowse.
“She is currently in the hospital in a coma brought on by a virulent form of meningitis. Her doctors do not know when she will come out of the coma.”
This is a huge setback for Denise in more ways than one. Prior to being hospitalised, she made her debut as a director with her project ‘Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story.’
This biopic looked at the life of Mahalia’s role in the ‘Civil Rights Movement’ and how her friendship with Martin Luther King Jr played out.
And as it premiered in only April of this year at the Pan African Film Festival, that achievement has been overshadowed by this health issue.
That is why Tracey urged everyone to continue remembering Denise in their prayers. She added: “She is a vibrant actor and director that should have many years ahead of her. Thoughts, prayers and support are greatly appreciated.”
The fans on social media came out in droves to send their best wishes. And in the process of doing so, they hoped that Denise would make a speedy recovery.
One person wrote: “Sending love and prayers! May God’s healing power touch Ms. Denise…I am trusting for a healthy and whole recovery.”
