In another UFC bet, Drake came up short as he lost $200,000 betting on Kamaru Usman over Leon Edwards at UFC 278. The knockout lost resulted in Usman’s second career loss and Edwards picking up the UFC Middleweight title for Edwards.
Drake Lost $200,000 in Usman vs. Edwards UFC 278 Bout
It was quite the dramatic match but as the rounds went on, the fate of Drizzy’s $200,000 became more and more uncertain. That is until the fifth round when Usman managed to tank a punch from Edwards but ate a kick dead to the head. Honestly, it was a satisfying end to an overall great match.
The knockout shocked everyone as Usman was on a dominant streak after suffering his first loss in his second career bout. Arriving in the UFC in July 2015, he racked up 15 consecutive wins with most coming via decision or KO. Meanwhile, Leon Edwards was heading into this one with one win following a no contest decision and had already suffered a loss to Kamaru Usman in 2015.
So, Drake putting that much on Usman makes sense but obviously, this didn’t shake out as the “War” expected. Upon hearing about Drake’s hefty bet, Edwards told him bet on him next time and to shoot him a Rolex.
However, as the reporter mentioned—what Drake lost was a bit of pocket change on this one.
