We’re hoping to soon have a release date for the big budget AEW video game debut. More and more details have been showing up, and not everything has been good news. We’ve already learned that former AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR were removed from the game midway through development – and now we have the reactions from Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood.
FTR Give Their Reactions To Being Removed From AEW: Fight Forever
Cash Wheeler would explain their reaction when they found out, during a recent interview with GiveMeSport. He’d say their real issue was being blindsided, and wondering if they were in danger of being released.
“The only real issue is we were kind of blindsided by it. We found out like not how you would expect. And when you find out something like that — something major — like being taken out of a video game, your mind automatically assumes the worst.
“So for us, is this something we need to worry about? Should we read between the lines here? Were we not told for a reason? And now that we are aware and now that we are out, what is that reason? Is it something we should worry about. We got an answer. It made a lot of sense; very logical answer. We said, “ok, cool”. As long as we don’t have to worry about it, nonissue.”
Dax Harwood would add in the following, saying they reached out to Tony Khan as soon as they found out.
“Like Cash said, we heard about this, I want to say, maybe, March. It was before the Briscoes match. I had someone — one of the journalists — message me and say, “is this true?”. We texted Tony, talked to him. Talked to legal, got our answer and it was a nonissue.”
FTR Means DLC?
Right now, fans are hoping that the likes of FTR get added following the release as part of a free update, or more likely a DLC back with some more wrestlers who didn’t make the cut. Reasons for the removal of major AEW stars is unclear, but could be due to issues with recording the signature moves and refining the models of such a big roster.
