A source close to Pete Davidson tells PEOPLE that he is seeking help because Kim’s ex-husband, Kanye West has been harassing him online. The Saturday Night Live star, 28, “has been in trauma therapy in large part” since April this year as a result of threatening comments that West, 45, made repeatedly on social media while he was dating the rapper’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. “The attention and negativity coming from Kanye and his antics are a trigger for [Pete], and he’s had to seek out help,” an insider states.
Pete Davidson And Kim K. Break Up
Davidson, who just ended his relationship with Kardashian, 41, the insider continues, “has no regrets for dating Kim and wants it to be made very clear that she’s been nothing but supportive of him throughout their relationship.” When PEOPLE asked West for comment, West’s spokesman did not answer right away. After dating for nine months, Davidson and the SKIMS billionaire decided to split up last week.
Kanye West’s Online Harassment Lands SNL Star, Pete Davidson in Trauma Therapy
Following news of their breakup, West responded on Instagram early on Monday with a since-deleted post that featured an image of a modified New York Times newspaper with the title, “Skete Davidson Dead at Age 28.” According to a source now speaking to PEOPLE, the teams for Davidson and Kardashian separately contacted Instagram regarding the image.
The insider adds that one reason Davidson has “been absent from social media” is because of West’s repeated attacks. The insider also states, “His team and Kim’s have reached out to Instagram repeatedly asking to make the platform a safer space.”
A source close to Kardashian revealed that Davidson’s participation in trauma treatment had absolutely nothing to do with the couple’s breakup. The insider continues, restating the cause of the couple’s breakup, “She’s upset about the breakup. But the schedule made it so hard, and the fact that they were living in two different cities.” “I had an AIDS scare this year. Yeah, I did.”
He continued. “And you’re like, ‘Pete, wow. What’s going on in your life? Are you sharing needles? Are you doing heroin? Are you having tons of unprotected sex?’ No. Kanye told me I had AIDS. And he’s a genius. So, I was like, ‘Oh, f—.’ ‘I better call my doctor. The guy who made College Dropout thinks I have AIDS,'” I thought. Davidson made light of the situation, joking that “maybe” the Yeezy designer had been “right” all along. “So a doc told me I don’t have AIDS.
I just look like I have it. So it’s a completely different thing,” he began. Davidson continued to make fun of West’s remark directed at him, saying it was “such an old-school thing” to say given that the peak of the HIV/AIDS epidemic occurred in the middle of the 1980s. “John Mulaney called me. He’s like, ‘AIDS? You should spread a rumor that he has polio,'” He laughed, making fun of a disease that has been eradicated in the US since 1979.
