Taichi is just getting started with his time in this years G1, with only two matches under his belt. He’s coming up against Chase Owens with 2 points and a fresh body – while Owens is still feeling the effects of a shockingly hard fought match with Jay White. This is a potential trap match for Taichi, as Owens is often overlooked in the ring – but has been showing his skills with each match of this tournament. Owens would pay tribute to his mentor Bobby Eaton tonight.

Taichi would ask Owens to get into the middle of the ring and fight him to start, with a sumo style approach beginning. However, Taichi would take a kick to the chest – and would respond with a Greco Roman Throat hold into the corner. Owens would take this out to the floor, and punch Taichi right between the eyes while he was in a headlock.
Taichi would be choked with the camera cables at ringside, before being dumped back into the ring. A kneebreaker would follow, before Taichi threw a chop but missed. Owens would hit the Northern Lights Suplex, getting a two count. Taichi & Owens would trade strikes in the middle of the ring, with Taichi being knocked down with a back elbow smash.
Miho Abe would get into the face of Owens, and that was able to buy Taichi some precious moments – only for him to take a C-Trigger. Owens had the win, but would pull the shoulders of Taichi off the mat. He’d miss the next knee strike, before taking the gamiguri in the corner.
Taichi Rocks Owens Before Black Mephisto

Thrust kick was blocked, but the rushing forearm smash was not. Black Mephisto would land and Taichi scores a crucial two points. It was a hard fought match, but Taichi moves to four points – with a 2-1 record thus far.
