Hiroshi Tanahashi is not having a great G1 Climax, but is still in the hunt for the finals. He’s beaten Tetsuya Naito & Zack Sabre Jr, but dropped a match to the young upstart Aaron Henare – and tonight has to face another familar foe with EVIL. The leader of the House of Torture branch of BULLET CLUB, EVIL is someone who has been showing his brawling skills in this G1 Climax – having been taken to his limits against Naito. EVIL might be realizing he’s been holding back, and tear Tanahashi down tonight.
A Battle Of Good & EVIL
EVIL would kick things off with a toe kick to the midsection, before grabbing a headlock. Tanahashi would break free, and apply the headlock himself. EVIL fought free, before taking the springboard crossbody. This one would spill to the outside, and Tanahashi was predictably driven into the barricade right in front of the timekeeper’s table.
Back into the ring, EVIL would look for the pinfall – but the referee refused to count. Tanahshi would take out Dick togo at ringside with the baseball slide, before dropping EVIL in the middle of the ring. Somersault Senton would follow, getting Tanahashi a two count.
EVIL would trip Tanahashi up in the corner, before wrapping the leg around the steel ringpost. He’d distract the referee as Dick Togo would get the steel chair to the knee. In the middle of the ring, Darkness Scorpion would be applied, and Tanahashi would fight to reach the bottom rope.
Darkness Falls would be set, but Tanahashi fought free before the Dragon Screw Leg Whip. Tanahashi would be relentless with his attack of the leg, before applying the Texas Cloverleaf in the middle of the ring. The bell would sound, but it was just a scheme of Dick Togo to get Tanahashi to let go of the hold. This would finally get Togo thrown out from ringside, and hopefully that sticks for the rest of the tour.
Hiroshi Tanahashi Will Never Fall To Darkness
Back in the ring, EVIL would throw a steel chair into the face of Tanahashi – before nailing a set of lariats. The STO would be called – but Tanahashi was able to counter into the Twist & Shout neckbreaker. A trio of Slingblades would put EvIL down for the two count.
High Fly Flow would land – and SHO would yank the referee from the ring. House of Torture are willing to do anything for the win, and SHO would nail a German Suplex to Tanahashi. Dick Togo would return with a second referee, but Tanahashi was able to kick out before three.
Magic Killer would be set up by Tanahashi, using the third referee to hit the hold. SHO grabbed the wrench, and Tanahashi would block before Togo tried to choke him. The Ace hit two low blows, before EVIL would nail Tanahashi down low. Darkness Falls would land, but Tanahashi was able to kick out at two.
The STO would be blocked, and Tanahashi would get the ground cobra for the pinfall victory. All the cheating in the world can’t stop a well executed pinfall from one of the best to ever do it. Tanahashi won with his wrestling skills, and EVIL was irate.. But took a post match low-blow to send him packing.
