We’re just a few days out from a set of massive AEW shows – with Grand Slam bringing a jam packed episode of Dynamite, and a two hour edition of AEW Rampage. One of the featured matches for Rampage is the in-ring debut of rapper Action Bronson, who performs “The Chairman’s Intent” – which is the theme song of current FTW Champion HOOK. This came as a shock to some, but Bronson has been itching for a chance like this for a while now.
Action Bronson Has Been Training At Create-A-Pro
While speaking with Ariel Helwani on The MMA show, Action Bronson would explain just how his in-ring debut came around. He’d be quoted saying the following about the plans and where he’s been training.
“They had the idea for me to walk him down to the ring. Then, I started training a little bit and they saw my athleticism and prowess. Create A Pro, I like to give them a plug because they showed a lot of love. It is a school, but it’s a dojo (run by Pat Buck). Taz got everything hooked up. Just started fucking around, teaching me shit. Nine-ten weeks ago and things started moving from there.”
“Taking a bump…I just practice offense. Fuck that. I don’t fall. I have it in the contract. I don’t fall. Taking bumps is serious, it’s not an easy thing. I’ve worked different styles and this is one of the toughest. I love it [running the ropes]. It’s intense, makes me feel good. You have to hit them right, no doubt about it.”
As for what Bronson expects to do in the ring – he’s not going to pull out high flying, but knows his stuff. He’d say the following about his potential wrestling skills in an interview from 2020.
“I don’t think I’d be able to do a hurricanrana. I can do lots of things that I’m not going to pull out of the bag. Just know there is an arsenal of over 1000 moves. I have more than Dean Malenko.”
The planned match is HOOK & Action Bronson vs. Matt Menard & Angelo Parker. Parker recently gave HOOK one of his most competitive matches in his professional wrestling career – when he challenged for the FTW Championship during All Out: Zero Hour.
