After CM Punk would be forced to vacate the AEW World Championship, Tony Khan quickly threw together a massive tournament. Bryan Danielson would defeat Hangman Page & Chris Jericho to make the finals, while Jon Moxley got a first round bye – and took down Sammy Guevara to make the finals. Tonight, the founding members of The Blackpool Combat Club run back their match from earlier this year, when Moxley claimed the singles win. Danielson has yet to claim gold in AEW – and tonight is his best chance yet.

    Bryan Danielson Wakes Moxley Up

Danielson & Moxley started with some chops, before Danielson would go for the ankle pick. He’d move into a keylock, but Moxley was able to get free. Danielson would hit some headbutts, before getting Moxley into the corner with some strikes – and following up with the running dropkick. Danielson would try to wake Moxley up with some slaps to the face, and would regret it as he was driven hard into the corner.

Moxley would be cornered again with the mid-kicks, before a knee strike to the midsection. Danielson would kick Moxley in the spine, and Moxley would come back with a kick of his own before a body slam. Moxley would take a kick to the face on the floor, before a diving knee strike to the jaw.

Danielson would toss Moxley off the apron with a suplex, and kept the pressure on. He’d stomp the elbow before raining in some knee strikes to the ribs. Moxley fought to his feet, only to be run down with the running knee strike. Diving shotgun dropkick would be blocked into a powerbomb, before Moxley would look to set up a superplex. – only to get crotched and hit with the super backdrop.

Jon Moxley Fights Till The End

Moxley would fight free of the LeBell lock, before both men ended up in a weird double boston crab situation. Both men got back to their feet, and Danielson would rock Moxley with a roundhouse kick. Moxley would respond with the King Kong Lariat and Death Rider for a two count.

Danielson would find himself back on top and hit the stomps to the face. Moxley would block into a position to kick Danielson in the face – before ending up in the Triangle Sleeper. Moxley was able to fight free and hit the Death Rider on the stage.

Danielson would be able to kick out in the ring, before being taken into the rear naked choke. Moxley would hold on tight – and forced the referee stoppage. The first ever three time AEW World Champion – Jon Moxley.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
