Since AEW All Out, AEW has been at the center of news in the pro wrestling world as they continue to take criticism for CM Punk’s unprofessional outburst and Tony Kahn for allowing it to happen.
For the most part of AEW’s existence, the WWE hasn’t acknowledged them publicly despite numerous shots fired by Tony and the company’s talent.
Triple H Masterful at Trolling AEW, Tony Kahn, and CM Punk as Michael Cole and Natalya Throw Shade
AEW made some good headway into the hearts and minds of fans by going after the WWE regularly, and now with Tony making accusations about tampering and being ready to go to war.
And the WWE has started to fire back in an offhand way as Natalya took to twitter last week and mocked Punk’s less than stellar media scrum appearance by posting:
“This is Bob. Ms Neidhart hasn’t sued anyone in this match, and she’s also a locker room leader. For some reason, she was eating a muffin when she dictated this message to me. Bye.”

Making it count
While Natalya slipped under the radar for many, on last week’s WWE Smackdown (September 9), Michael Cole seemed to throw some shade and Punk, Tony, and AEW.
He and Corey Graves were recapping the segment where Ronda Rousey and WWE official Adam Pearce where Ronda got physical and mauled Pearce.
Cole said that Ronda was disciplined internally and the results wouldn’t be made public. Then then added that “Sources told me WWE official Adam Pierce has gotten carried away, he’s aired the dirty laundry publicly, hence the reason this investigation has been taken behind the scenes.”
It’s pretty hard not to see this as a swipe at Punk publicly ripping AEW’s EVPs and Tony’s way of handling the situation.
We’re honestly surprised a bobble head comment didn’t make its way onto air, but there could me more to come.
Playing the game
What’s different about the WWE now is Triple H is a wrestling fan and not a cut throat businessman like Vince. Sure, he could be like that if he’s pushed far enough, but he wants it to be a fun environment.
Because of that, we expect any comments that come out of the WWE toward AEW will be tongue in cheek humor. Triple H will have fun with it and make it enjoyable for the fans.
It’s the perfect response to Tony’s wide eyed rants about not taking it anymore and it doesn’t directly give AEW any added relevancy as they’re throwaway moments that are a blink and you missed it kind of thing.
In the end, this is great for fans as an all out war between them like WWE and WCW would only hurt the business long term as there would have to be a loser and chances are that company could go out of business.
It’s great to have so many options, and with any luck AEW and WWE will continue throwing barbs at each other for years to come.
