While some fans view the belt with a less than favourable view due to the lack of a Ring of Honor TV show, Claudio Castagnoli views the ROH World Championship as the peak of his wrestling career. Tonight, he makes yet another defence – having already shut down Dustin Rhodes & Ari Daivari, but tonight – we get a follow up from the conclusion of ROH Death Before Dishonor 2022.
After the show’s main event came to a close, with FTR standing victorious over The Briscoes, they’d be greeted by Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta. If Claudio is able to successfully defend against Dax Harwood tonight, a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championships could well be right around the corner.
Dax Harwood Doesn’t Care He’s The Underdog
Code of Honor would be observed with a handshake, before they’d lock up hard in the ring. They’d go to a stalemate, before throwing uppercuts and chops in the ring. A tumble to the outside might have led to Harwood hurting his knee – but he’d stand tall in the ring, before hitting a Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall.
Rear chinlock would be applied, but Claudio would be able to slip out before wrenching the arm and launching him right into the barricade. Again to the floor, Claudio would hit some hard strikes, putting Harwood between a rock and a hard place. Back in the ring, Claudio would slide Harwood leg first into the post,
Harwood not only hit his leg, but landed on his head. Back in the ring, Harwood was rocked with a lariat. Harwood would be able to kick out, before hitting a scoop slam before a diving headbutt. Claudio stopped another with the running uppercut, leaping into it to set up a superplex. Harwood would look to come back with a sunset flip, but was blocked before spiking Claudio with a brainbuster.
Chris Jericho Is Interested In Claudio Castagnoli
Claudio would roll to the floor to get his bearings, before getting back into the ring to keep the heavy strikes coming. Harwood would hit a series of German Suplexes – before one off the top rope. Claudio was able to remain in the fight, before all but knocking Harwood out with an uppercut. The giant swing was set up, before Harwood would be trapped in the Sharpshooter.
Harwood got close to the ropes and Claudio almost got a crossface. Claudio would find himself in the sharpshooter instead, and was caught in the middle of the ring. Harwood would have this turned around, and would be forced to tap out.
On commentary, Chris Jericho expressed interest in maybe adding the ROH World Championship to his legacy.
