Nate Diaz’s final UFC fight is around the corner. He will face Khamzat Chimaev, one of the most dangerous welterweights on the UFC roster. Diaz will enter the Octagon as a 7-to-1 underdog, and although UFC president Dana White claims he asked for the matchup, Diaz told ESPN differently.
“What they’ve got me doing right now is they’re acting like I called for this fight, which I didn’t call for, and I don’t want, and didn’t want, and still don’t want.
Diaz “Didn’t Want” Khamzat Fight
But I don’t give a f***, I’ll fight anybody. But the pressure’s on him — he better finish me, because he’s the next killer in town.
Because if I whoop his ass, they’re going to say, ‘Oh, he wasn’t the best in town.’ But they’re not going to let me go [otherwise]. I asked for 20 fights, 10 fights, 15 fights.”
Diaz also pointed out that this fight is about turning Khamzat into a superstar with a victory over an outgoing UFC hero. “This fight is not even about this guy. It’s about making this guy.
It’s about making this motherf*****, right? And I’m like, OK, well, you guys aren’t going to let me go because I’m the best fighter here, and you’re not going to let me go unless it’s off of somebody? I’ve got to make somebody for you? Well, alright — you’re welcome. Let’s make you.
You’re welcome, UFC. You’re welcome, Dubai. You’re welcome, all you motherf****** in your country. You’re welcome. This is just my halftime show. I’m just getting started.”
Diaz continued, in customary Nate Diaz fashion, subjecting the UFC to a profanity-laden tirade for “disrespecting” him. “Why’s the UFC been disrespecting and making me be like their fall guy or something? F*** him, f*** them, f*** everybody.
And this is just the start for me. This whole fight is not brought to you by the UFC. This fight is brought to you by [Diaz’s new promotion] Real Fight, Inc., straight the f*** up. Because it’s not the UFC putting on Nate Diaz vs. whatever his f****** name is. It’s you and this motherf***** vs. me, get the f****** loss.”
Nate Diaz crashed the UFC’s party once before. He faced Conor McGregor at the peak of McGregor’s rise through the UFC, handing the Irish superstar his first UFC loss with a vicious rear naked choke.
Can he shock the world one more time and take out the UFC’s newest rising star? Let us know in the comments.
