UFC light heavyweight Jamahal “Sweet Dreams” Hill feels optimistic about his chances against the reigning 205-pound champ, Jiri Prochazka. Hill, currently riding a three-fight winning streak with a knockout victory in each bout, feels like he’s not far away from a shot at UFC gold, and he likes the way his style matches up with Prochazka’s. Hill explained on a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast.
“From the first time I saw him, I knew he was a fun fight. He’s a flow fighter. That’s what I am. He likes to cause chaos and then use his ability to flow with it. It’s a natural feel. He’s got good natural instinct.
Jamahal Hill Wants A Piece of “Physical Freak” Jiri Prochazka
Jiri is like that, though – he flows. He causes chaos and then he flows through chaos and he lands big shots. He’s a physical freak. You can see his physical stature and things like that. I just think I do those things better, from what I see. My flow is stronger. My technique is sharper. I’m more dynamic. I have more tools.”
Jiri Prochazka rode to the UFC light heavyweight title with only two wins under his belt. He is currently undefeated in the UFC, knocking out Dominick Reyes with a spinning back elbow in only his second Octagon appearance. Most recently, Prochazka dispatched Glover Teixeira with a rear naked choke to secure the light heavyweight title. With a rematch between Teixeira and Prochazka looking to be the most likely course of events, Jamahal Hill knows he’s still a fight or two away from challenging for the belt.
“I think I’m one ‘dub,’ one win ahead of me, as long as it’s somebody ahead of me. I’m not going to fight somebody behind me, somebody that’s going to keep me in the same spot that I’m in, so I’m looking to fight somebody that’s ahead of me.”
Both Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka are long, rangy strikers with terrifying power. Prochazka’s pro record includes 29 wins, of which 25 came via knockout. In fact, Prochazka hasn’t won a fight by decision since 2016. Jamahal Hill is also riding a three-fight UFC winning streak, albeit one tarnished by his sole career loss to Paul Craig back in June 2021. Since then, Hill has strung together three consecutive knockout wins, most recently dispatching Thiago Santos in June.
