The world is shaken by the Queen’s death. Everybody reacts differently to the news. However, the reaction of the Carnegie Mellon University professor is something that started an outrage in people. One of those people upset by the tweet is the billionaire Jeff Bezos.
The professor took to Twitter as soon as she heard the sad news of the Queen’s worsening health situation and wished her an ‘excruciating’ death.
Jeff Bezos Slams Professor Who Hoped For Queen’s Excruciating Death
“I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating.” – Uju Anya, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University tweeted on Thursday, hours before Queen Elizabeth II passed away.
The tweet has been righteously deleted by Twitter, however, not before Jeff Bezos got a chance to read it and reply to it.
“This is someone supposedly working to make the world better? I don’t think so. Wow.” – the world’s second wealthiest man wrote.
Anya saw the reply and did not even think about apologizing or deleting her tweet. Quite on the contrary, she criticized Bezos and his ‘merciless greed’.
“May everyone you and your merciless greed have harmed in this world remember you as fondly as I remember my colonizers.” – she wrote.
“If anyone expects me to express anything but disdain for the monarch who supervised a government that sponsored the genocide that massacred and displaced half my family and the consequences of which those alive today are still trying to overcome, you can keep wishing upon a star.” – The Carnegie Mellon University Professor continued.
Uju Anya joined Carnegie Mellon University in 2021. However, she is born and raised in Nigeria. The country that achieved independence from The United Kingdom in 1960. In an interview for the University, earlier this year, she told that she cannot forgive the UK. She simply cannot get over the fact that the United Kingdom was ‘keeping Nigeria hostage’ for so long.
After her hateful tweet, the University also separated itself from the professor’s statements.
“We do not condone the offensive and objectionable messages posted by Uju Anya today on her personal social media account. Free expression is core to the mission of higher education. However, the views she shared absolutely do not represent the values of the institution. Nor they are representing the standards of discourse we seek to foster.” – Peter Kerwin, a spokesperson for the University said for Fox News.
From Twitter, they did not immediately comment on the background by which they deleted Anya’s tweet. They did not specify what policy did it break to ‘deserve’ to be deleted.
However, the platform has a policy for hateful conduct which prohibits “content that wishes, hopes, promotes, incites, or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm, or serious disease against an entire protected category and/or individuals who may be members of that category.”
In the meantime, Jeff Bezos sent his condolences to the royal family and the United Kingdom. “I can think of no one who better personified duty. My deepest condolences to all the Brits mourning her passing today.” – Jess Bezos’ tweet reads.
