The two most recognizable people in the UFC promotion. Dana White and Joe Rogan. Who would have thought that they have a contract bonding them to remain together in the UFC? As it turns out, that is the reason Joe Rogan is sure that he will remain at the commentary desk for a long time.
This is both good and bad news. The UFC color commentator has many fans, and this is good news for them. However, he has also people that do not see his commentary work as ‘good’. Especially now, when he is deep into podcasting and comedy.
Joe Rogan Reveals That He Is Bonded To Dana White With Contract – “If Dana Leaves, I’m Gone As Well”
Recently, he revealed a fact that the public didn’t know. He is into the UFC for as long as Dana White is in there as well. This doesn’t mean that he is not allowed to leave before that, but it means that once Dana White resigns and leaves the UFC President chair to someone else, Joe Rogan will need to follow him.
“I’m a professional fan.” – Joe Rogan reveals about his commentating. “If Dana leaves, I’m gone with him. That’s in my contract.”
The respect between these two is mutual. The respect is so big that it looks a lot more like a bromance. Whenever there was criticism of Joe Rogan’s work in the past, Dana White was there to defend him.
“Another guy who deserves a ton of credit for helping build this sport during our era is Joe Rogan.” – Dana White told Teddy Atlas when on his podcast. “The reality is that when we got into this, everybody understood standup fighting no matter what happened. Punching, kicking, elbows – we all get that. The big thing for us was when it goes to the ground, how many people are really going to understand what’s going on and what they’re seeing?”
“Because if you’ve never done jiu-jitsu, you don’t know what the hell they’re doing.” – Dana White backed up why Joe Rogan is one of the best commentators. “Joe Rogan was, first of all, passionate about the sport, No. 1. No. 2, he’s so good at walking you through what is going on before it even starts to happen. To have a guy like him behind the mic, he was very instrumental in helping build the sport.”
On the other hand, we can see how much Joe Rogan loves MMA, and the UFC as the biggest MMA promotion, since he is not leaving it after all these years. It is not like he is dependent on the money he makes there. Especially now when he made more than $100 million when he signed his podcast with Spotify. And when we take into consideration that in a few years the extension for his original contract will come with an even higher number than $100 million, it is almost absurd that Joe still sticks with the UFC and works as a commentator.
“When you talk about talent, Joe Rogan is the best ever.” – Dana White said on another occasion in 2018. “Part of the reason we’ve grown so fast is because of Rogan’s ability to walk you through what’s going on while it’s happening. He’s brilliant, he’s so good, and he’s so passionate about the sport. You feel it when you’re watching. This isn’t a guy who’s just there for the paycheck, this is a guy who loves this stuff. We didn’t pay Rogan for the first 12 events he worked on. He did them for free. He’s got a great voice for it too, his voice is great.”
It is most certainly good enough to have a compilation of him yelling “He’s hurt!”, and “OMG what did just happen?”.
