One of the biggest moments on Monday Night RAW recently was the return of Johnny Gargano. Long considered to be the heart of the NXT brand, Gargano left the company earlier this year – unclear of his future in the industry. He would take some months to focus on being a father, and thought long and hard about where he belongs in the industry. There were many fans hoping to see him pop up in All Elite Wrestling – and they almost got to see that happen.
Going To AEW Crossed The Mind Of Johnny Gargano
While speaking on the After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves, Johnny Gargano was asked the question on the minds of many. That was if he was considering going somewhere other than WWE during his time off. Gargano would be quoted saying the following.
“Obviously, it crossed my mind, but I was at the point to where I wasn’t ready to come back yet. I was enjoying myself. I have people that work around me that go out and talk to other places, and I have a great team around me that have those discussions so I don’t have to. That was a big thing too while I was gone. I was very focused on being a dad and letting the business stuff be handled by other people. It was cool that promotions respected that and said, ‘Okay, we’re going to leave Johnny alone, but we’ll talk to his people about what could potentially happen.’ I’m lucky to be in that spot. It’s weird to say something like that given I’m from the Indies and I do everything myself.”
Claiming The Money In The Bank Briefcase From Austin Theory Soon?
Right now, Gargano has yet to have a match since returning to WWE. He’s been working in the WWE Performance Center to get rid of some ring rust – as seen by recent pictures taken with his newborn son entering a ring for the first time. Gargano will be back in the ring soon, and has set up a feud with former protege Austin Theory.
With Theory holding that Money in the Bank briefcase (and failing to cash in on Roman Reigns twice now), there’s a good chance that we could see Gargano look to claim that title shot for himself. With Triple H being the one calling the shots, and the one who really brought the best out of Gargano by making him the headline star of the NXT brand – we all expect big things from him on Monday Night RAW.
