It is fair to say that the interview was controversial to say the least. Meghan made a series of disclosures including the claim that someone in the media had called her son the n-word.
This was also followed up by another admission where she suggested that paparazzi would end up confronting her if she did decide to take her son to school in the UK.
This was even though royal protocol would suggest that the media were not allowed to take pictures unless they were prearranged.
And to top it all off, Meghan spoke about the importance of forgiveness at a time where she is not on speaking terms with her own father ,Thomas Markle, while her relations with the royals are at an all-time low.
Reporter Niles Gardiner had this to say: “The sheer arrogance of Meghan Markle is breathtaking. One of the most destructive characters in modern Royal history.
“Duchess of Sussex says she has made an ‘active effort’ to forgive her in-laws … but adds that she is now ‘free to say anything’.”
Meghan’s explosive interview ultimately arrived on the eve of the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
And at a time where the focus should have been on commemorating one of the most popular members of the Royal Family who ultimately died in tragic circumstances, it was overshadowed by Meghan’s words.
This was even followed up with claims that the cover shoot for the magazine happened to be based upon similar clothing that Diana would wear, that being, the turtle neck that Meghan wore.
Nevertheless, the fans on social media did not agree with Nile’s comments. A certain subset of people felt that Prince Andrew’s conduct by being involved in the sexual assault scandal concerning Virginia Guiffre was far much worse.
One person wrote: “What about serial rapist and arms to dictators bribes taker Prince Andrew ? 100% proof racists are insane.”
