Prince Harry will reportedly not be allowed to wear a military uniform in order to mourn his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth’s passing at a vigil held at Westminster Hall.
Prince Harry Banned From Wearing Military Uniform To Mourn Queen Elizabeth’s Passing
Reports indicated that the Duke of Sussex was keen on wearing this, which would have made sense by virtue of the fact that he did serve in the British armed forces.
But since he is no longer a part of the Royal Family having left with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020, it seems that this privilege is no longer available to him.
A source confirmed the following: “Harry – whose rank is a captain – would not be in uniform for any events.” Nevertheless, there is a feeling that this decision was not justified for the following reasons.
First of all, it could be argued that there should be an exception in light of the fact that his grandmother died. Therefore, it would make sense to allow royal protocol to be put to one side.
Secondly, given that Prince Andrew is allegedly being allowed to wear a military uniform, this has generated a lot of controversy.
After all, for all the criticism that has been directed towards Harry, who could forget that Andrew had also put a strain on the Royal Family following allegations of sexual assault against Virginia Giuffre.
The fans on social media were not happy with this decision. A significant proportion of them felt that it came across as very hypocritical that Harry was not allowed to wear one, especially if Andrew was allowed to do so.
One person wrote: “Harry actually fought in Afghanistan. Has Prince Andrew ever done anything in his uniform but pose in it for publicity?”
Harry may not be able to do this, but there are other ways in which he can pay his respects. And that is the most important thing to remember. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
