With NXT UK set to close to make way for NXT Europe – the legacy of the NXT UK Championship will end tonight. Champion Tyler Bate is looking to end the history of the brand on a high note – and be the one to unify the NXT & NXT Uk Championships. Bron Breakker meanwhile, is looking to prove that NXT has always been the stronger brand, and will shut down another challenge to his position as the top dog of the brand.
The Freak Of Nature Meets One Big Strong Boy
They’d lock up hard to start, but quickly met a stalemate. The crowd was split 50/50 in this match, which wasn’t expected with Breakker being a constant favorite in NXT 2.0. Bate would be taken into a tight headlock, and Breakker was able to take him down to the mat. Breakker would look for this finisher early, but nearly ended up in the Tyler Driver ‘97.
He’d be able to break free, and we’d get a stalemate. Bate would get the wrist lock applied, and would use this to control Breakker. Breakker would be outwrestled, but was able to kick out at a count of two. A mat wrestling exchange would see Bate win out – but Breakker uncorked a Frankensteiner and delayed Vertical Suplex before a standing moonsault press.
Bate would kick out, and nailed a dropkick to send Breakker to the floor. A clean dive over the top rope would follow, Bate flying in to keep the pressure on. In the ring, a running Shooting Star Press would be avoided – and Breakker would rush Bate back out to the floor with a tackle.
Right back into the ring, Breakker would head to the middle rope, but took a punch to the head. Exploder Suplex and running Shooting Star Press would follow – but Breakker was able to kick out at two. He’d look for the Airplane Spin – but Breakker blocked.
Breakker would look for a Jackhammer, but Bate was able to block into an inside cradle for a two count. Bate would almost be caught with the Frankensteiner again, but Breakker was able to just counter into the sit out powerbomb for the two count. Breakker would fight free of an Avalanche Exploder Suplex, and shoved Bate down before the Steiner Bulldog for a two count.
Bron Breakker Walks Away With The Victory After An Absolute War
The Orange Crush powerbomb would follow, with Bate still able to kick out. Bate would throw some strikes from the mat, with Breakker responding with strikes of his own. Bop & Bang would be blocked into a Fujiwara Amrbar, Breakker showing what he’s learned from Tommaso Ciampa.
Bate would block by lifting Breakker up into an Airplane Spin, before a slam for a two count. Tyler Driver ‘97 would land – but this was still somehow not enough to keep Breakker down. Going up top, Bate would look for the Spiral Tap – but was taken down with the Powerslam – but Bate found the bottom rope with his foot.
Breakker would be looking to end this with the spear, but ran into a knee to the jaw. Bop & Bang would land, but Tyler Driver ‘97 was blocked. Bate would block the powerslam into a roll up, but got 2.9. Breakker would see Bate bounce off the ropes and cut him down with the spear for the hard fought victory.
After the bell, Bate himself would show some sportsmanship – and put the belts over the shoulder of Breakker. There’s no shame in losing a well fought match – and that was exactly what tonight was.
