For weeks now, Grayson Waller has been trying to undermine and expose Apollo Crews. Last week with The Grayson Waller effect talk show debut, he’d dredge up the missing accent of Crews, and claim his kids were let down to see their dad off of the bigger shows of Smackdown & RAW. Crews responded with a punch to the face, and saying that he’s only working Tuesdays to be champion of another night. Tonight, Waller & Crews will finally look to settle their differences in the ring, as they go one on one.
Grayson Waller Weathers The Early Storm From Apollo Crews
Before the match could begin, Waller would try to cut a promo – but was cut off by the music of Crews and a great reaction from the Capitol Wrestling Centre. We’d get a recap of the talk show from last week, including the punch to the face of Waller – and this one would get started. Waller would apply a rear waist lock, but Crews was able to block into a wrist lock.
Taking Waller to the mat, Crews would look to keep control of the arm – wrenching and bending it, while blocking the attempts of counters from Waller. A roll up would get a two count for Waller, before Crews would hit a big time lariat to topple the loud mouthed aussie. The big back body drop would land, before Crews would quickly mock the taunts of Waller.
Waller was held upside down in a delayed suplex, before Crews would follow up with the slingshot senton for a two count. A poke the eye of Crews would follow, and he’d have to roll to the floor. Medical staff would check Crews out, as we went to a commercial break. During the break, Crews would get back into the ring – and Waller would pounce.
Another Eye Poke Shuts Crews Down
Waller threw Crews into the corner, before choking him on the ropes. An attempt at a Sunset Flip would follow, with Waller able to counter. Cravate would be applied, with Waller throwing in some knee strikes to the face, before looking for the springboard elbow drop – getting a two count. Some quick jabs in the corner would land, before Waller applied the sleeper hold in the middle of the ring.
Crews would break free and hit some strikes before being sent to the apron. Waller went for the punch, but was blocked and knocked to the mat. The slingshot senton would be blocked into a rear naked choke – before Waller hit some stiff elbow smashes to the back of the neck.
Crews would still be able to kick out at two – and set up the diving Blockbuster out of the corner. Military Press would see Waller slip to the outside, and he’d be able to slip back into the ring for the Rolling Stunner for the victory. Crews almost countered, but Waller got another eye poke in before hitting that Stunner.
Finn Balor Offers Bron Breakker Some Advice, Women’s Tag Team Champions In Action
After years of hard work, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance can finally call themselves the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. Tonight, they offered a chance for a match to another team who was close to claiming gold with the Diamond Mine duo of Tatum Paxley & Ivy Nile. Nile has trained Paxley herself, with a lot of tough love being shown. We will see if that tough love will turn into solid teamwork, as they have a massive chance on their hands tonight.
Before this match, Finn Balor would show up to remind Bron Breakker just what the NXT Championship means. He’s beaten men bigger than him during his two reigns as champion, and said that Breakker can’t overlook the challenge of Tyler Bate this Sunday.
Nile & Carter would kick this match off, with Carter almost forcing a pinfall with a roll up. Chance & Carter would look to corner Nile, with Chance holding the arms back as Carter nailed a dropkick. The speed of the champions had Nile reeling – before Carter was dropped with a facebuster.
Paxley would tag into the match, and we’d get some tag team offense from Diamond Mine, before a standing Skytwister Press got a two count. Carter would slip free and hit a springboard dropkick – getting a two count. Chance & Carter once again would use their speed to cut Paxley down, as Toxic Attraction would seemingly make a move from their lounge to the ring.
Nile would be pulled off the apron by Gigi Dolin, and Paxley would be left alone in the ring. The 450 Splash/Neckbreaker combo would land, and the champions get the win. After the match, Doudrop & Nikki A.S.H would stake a claim at the tag team champions.
