While there were no NXT UK Women’s Tag Team Championships to unify their belts with, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance wouldn’t get the night off. Two former NXT UK stars who recently united are Nikki A.S.H & Doudrop – and they will be happy to claim the NXT Tag Team Championships here tonight at Worlds Collide, as they bring some Monday Night RAW representation to the show. This is the first title defense from Katana & Kayden – who want to avoid a short reign.
Kayden Carter & Katana Chance Are The Underdogs Tonight
Nikki would start with Kayden, and commentary pointed out that Nikki is now the first woman in WWE to challenge for every active championship. She’d take some strikes to the throat, before Katana held her in the corner after a shoulder tackle for a dropkick. Doudrop hit the ring and absolutely dwarfed Katana, who tried to fly but was cut down with a shoulder tackle.
Kayden & Katana would try and use their speed to cut Doudrop down, but were stopped in their tracks and stacked. Nikki would keep the pressure on in the corner, taking Katana to the outside – and trapping her in the apron for some strikes. Doudrop followed up with a body block – putting Katana between a rock and a hard place.
Back in the middle of the ring, Nikki would apply a tight headlock and practically ragdoll Katana. Doudrop would look to prevent the tag to the fresh Kayden, but missed a spear into the corner. Nikki got the tag, but was unable to prevent the tag. Kayden would hit some dropkicks, but would take a sidewalk slam – reverse DDT combo from the challengers.
Toxic Attraction Helps The Champions Retain
Kayden slipped past a lariat, and hit the superkick. Nikki was quick on the tag and looked for an ankle lock, but was tossed into the corner of the champs. A backbreaker/double stomp combo would get a near fall, but Nikki was able to block the finisher.
Doudrop & Nikki would hit the ASH Drop on Kayden, but Katana was able to make the save during the pinfall. The music of Toxic Attraction would hit and the former champions tried to rush the ring. Nikki would take them out – but back in the ring? Doudrop took that neckbreaker – 450 Splash combo – and the belts remain in NXT, with a big assist from Toxic Attraction.
