Jon Moxley is getting ready for his first defence in his third reign as AEW World Champion, soon facing Hangman Page. To ensure he’s ready for that match, he’s accepted a trios match tonight – teaming with fellow Blackpool Combat Club members Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta as they face RUSH & Private Party. With the AEW status of Andrade El Idolo in flux – Private Party might be working for RUSH soon, and have a chance to make a good impression here tonight.

Jon Moxley Kicks Off New AEW Contract With A Fight

Moxley had an extra bit of pep in his step hitting the ring, just putting pen to paper to set up another five years as the Ace of AEW. RUSH was trying to get on the same page as Private Party in the ring, as Claudio would start with Marq Quen. Quen would be popped up into the air and was able to hit a dropkick to the face – before trying for an uppercut, and being dropped as Claudio showed him how the move is done.

Yuta would hit the ring alongside Kassidy, and would show his grappling skills could prevent Kassidy from gaining some speed. Moxley & RUSH would hit the ring and trade blows in the middle of the ring. A drop step into a German Suplex would send RUSH into the corner, allowing Moxley to run in with a lariat before biting the forehead of RUSH. RUSH would signal for Private Party to take out Yuta & Claudio, with Quen planting Yuta on the stage and nailing a 450 Splash.

On the floor, Moxley would be choked by the camera cables by RUSH – but RUSH would take time on the floor almost letting Moxley recover. Kassidy would get some stomps in, before RUSH reminded him that he’s the legal man for their team. Quen would try to get a boot to the face of Moxley, but caught RUSH instead.

Trios Dominance From Blackpool Combat Club

Kassidy was legal and left with Claudio, and nailed with two running uppercuts. Quen would make the save, and put on the shoulders as Kassidy was swung by his legs for a two for one special of the Giant Swing. Ricolla Bomb was attempted before RUSH would hit a headbutt – only to be cut down with a cutter from Moxley. Claudio hit the Short Arm Lariat – with Yuta following up with a diving splash for a two count.

RUSH would break the pinfall up, before being taken to the floor and hit with a dive from Moxley. Private Party would try and double team Yuta, only for Claudio to block the Silly String into Swiss Death. Yuta got a bicep slice on Kassidy, forcing him to tap out – ending this match.

With trios dominance like that, could we see Blackpool Combat Club go after the victors of tonights main event over the AEW World Trios Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
