Tonight, we finally see if Orange Cassidy has what it takes to be a champion in AEW. After claiming the AEW All-Atlantic Championship from PAC, he will now have to defend against two powerful heavyweights. RUSH & Preston Vance were set to meet in a grudge match tonight, though when asked if they’d rather turn it into a triple threat title match – and it’s hard to turn that down. OC doesn’t even need to be pinned to lose his belt tonight – making this a true test. However, it was OC who inserted himself into this match – because he wanted to.
Triple Threat Plays Into The Style Of RUSH
Vance & RUSH would run into each other as the bell rang, with OC standing back and watching. Hands in pockets, he’d hit the lazy leg kicks, before dropping RUSH with the dropkick. Vance was sent to the floor by a forearm smash from RUSH, and hit with diving splash from OC.
Back in the ring, RUSH would take OC out of the sky with a headbutt, with Vance being beaten down on the floor soon after – and having a beer thrown into his face from a fan. RUSH got an ‘a**hole’ from the crowd, before choking Vance with a camera cable from under the ring. With this as a triple threat, there are no DQ’s or countouts, which benefits someone like RUSH.
OC would taste the cables next, with RUSH whipping him with them. Vance would be rolled into the ring, and he’d run RUSH down with some lariats. They’d brawl to the floor, with OC trying to dive onto them – only to be caught with a double chokeslam on the timekeepers table. The table didn’t break, but RUSH would ram Vance through it shortly after.
Back in the ring, Vance would take a dropkick to the back of the head from RUSH, before having his head stomped. RUSH would some time to taunt, kicking an imaginary field goal to TIA Bank Field. Vance would be stomped in the head again, and it’s almost been a blowout for RUSH in this match.
Orange Cassidy Remains All-Atlantic Champion
Vance would be sent to the apron, and came back with the slingshot spear. OC would go for the Orange Punch, but was almost caught in the Full Nelson. He’d fight free before hitting Stundog Millionaire, before a big DDT on RUSH. Beach Break would land on Vance, but Jose The Assistant would break the pinfall up. Danhausen would curse him… and hit a Johnny Cage low blow.
RUSH dropped Danhausen, before whipping OC into the corner with the Belly To Belly Suplex. Vance would hit RUSH with the spinebuster, and would lead the crowd in a Ten chant. OC would be hit with the Wheelbarrow German Suplex, before the Brodie Lee Discuss Lariat – with RUSH breaking up the following pinfall.
Vance would have RUSH attack the mask, turning it to blind the Dark Order’s chosen one. RUSH took the Orange Punch – before Vance would be caught with a cradle pinfall from OC for the victory. Vance was let down, and would stare RUSH down on the ramp before walking off.
