You can say a lot of things about Mark Sterling, but you can’t deny he knows how the get exactly what he wants in AEW. By trademarking “scissor me”, he would take away the signature taunt and catchphrase of The Acclaimed – and was able to turn this into a title shot for this clients, Tony Nese & Josh Woods. Tonight, it’s title vs. trademark, as the AEW World Tag Team Championships are on the line, but if The Acclaimed win – scissoring daddy ass is back on the agenda.
Daddy Ass Gets Thrown Out Of The Building
With this match in Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida where The Acclaimed built their name in AEW – this is pretty much home field advantage for The Acclaimed. They’d get carried away and tell Daddy Ass to Scissor them, before Sterling would remind them who holds the trademark. Instead, The Acclaimed would rush their opponents to the floor.
Sterling would run a distraction, allowing Woods & Nese to take over the match briefly. Caster & Bowens would trap Woods in the corner for some rushing strikes before Caster nailed the powerslam before the back body drop on Woods. Woods would show his grappling skills to apply a hammerlock, before weaving Caster through the ropes and yanking him throat first into the top rope.
On the floor, Woods would attack Gunn – provoking Daddy Ass, and leading to Gunn being thrown out from ringside. He’s key in the success of The Acclaimed, and that took some wind out of their sails, as Woods hit a neckbreaker in the middle of the ring. Nese would keep the pressure on, beating Caster down before Woods nailed the knee to the jaw in the corner.
Mark Sterling Gets Beaten Down By The Acclaimed
A superplex from Woods would be blocked as Caster hit a headbutt, and came down with a crossbody. Woods nearly blocked into a powerslam, but was seconds short. Bowens would get the tag and showed why he’s a five tool player – cutting down Nese & Woods with fast strikes before the leg drop to the back of the next.
Nese would break the pinfall up with a knee to the jaw, before Woods would catch a thrown Bowens with the rising knee smash. The Angle Slam/Neckbreaker combo would get the near fall, with Caster able to break the pinfall up. Caster gave Woods an Attitude Adjustment, before Nese dropped him with a strike.
Nese would use the top rope for a hotshot on Bowens, and landed on Caster with a dive. Back in the ring, Bowens would cut Nese down with strikes. The Arrival & Mic Drop would follow – and The Acclaimed remain AEW World Tag Team Champions!
Sterling kicked up a fuss saying he has the trademark, only for Gunn to attack from behind. Trademark was torn in half, before he’d take the Scissor Me Timbers! Finally, The Acclaimed would scissor Daddy Ass again – and all was right with the world for a moment.
