Right now, it wouldn’t be hard to say that Bandido is the hottest free agent in professional wrestling. The former ROH World Champion recently would find himself in the main event of AEW Dynamite, going blow for blow with Chris Jericho over the ROH World Championship. After the match, he’d be offered a contract from Tony Khan – but hasn’t made his choice just yet.
Bandido Has Two Major Contract Offers To Consider
During an interview with Mas Lucha, Bandido would speak about being offered contracts from the two biggest companies in the United States. Bandido would say that Khan didn’t say he wanted him in AEW, but rather “I need you in AEW.” Despite this and a contract offer, Bandido would not accept immediately.
This might have paid off for him, as WWE has also offered him a contract. Bandido seems likely to accept the offer from AEW over WWE – with the chance to continue working the indies a spot in his favour. However, just by this becoming a bit of a bidding war – Bandido will be able to ensure he gets a fantastic deal wherever he lands.
If he signs with WWE, we are likely to see Bandido spend a year in NXT learning the style of the company – whereas AEW might be keen on pushing him as a main event talent, if his performance against Jericho is any indication. However, AEW has been seeing some major backstage issues lately, with talent often getting lost in the shuffle – whereas WWE morale is at near record highs after recent changes in management.
It’s situations like this, where AEW being so successful benefits the industry. A few years back, WWE was really the only game in town for when it came to making good money in professional wrestling in the United States. Now, talent has another option – and doesn’t have to jump at the first contract offered.
