As Christine Brown makes her final departure from the Brown family, all hell breaks loose. The third wife of Kody Brown is getting ready to leave the family’s headquarters from Flagstaff, Arizona, to Salt Lake City, Utah, as seen in an exclusive sneak peek at season 17’s newly released teaser shared by PEOPLE. However, she is anxious about how her choices may affect the people around her, including herself.
Christine, who announced the divorce in November 2021, tells TLC cameras, “I just hope that they don’t hate me.” In a second confessional, Meri Brown sarcastically congratulates her, saying, “Congratulations, you’re leaving the family.” “Like, I don’t know what I’m supposed to say to this.”

On the other hand, Kody seems to be suffering the most. At one point, the video captures him yelling at Christine, who is 50 years old, accusing her of “destroying the family’s way of life rather than being accountable.” “You’re like, ‘I’m divorced. I’m leaving. I’m done with you,'” Kody screams and drives off, leaving Janelle to comfort her. After that, the family gets together for Christine’s final night in town and celebrates.
The division is evident as Christine and her children stand alongside Janelle Brown and her children on one side of the room while Robyn Brown and her children stand on the other with Kody. Kody declares, “I don’t want to see Christine ever again,”
The aftermath of Christine’s departure is immediately noticeable in all aspects of the business. Meri confides in Robyn that the actions of Christine have left her “feeling betrayed” and that she “can’t comprehend” how Kody is coping with everything. Robyn informs the cameras, “He still has marriages with us, and he still needs to heal them, or he’s going to wreck every single one of them.”
It would appear that Kody and his second wife Janelle, have hit a significant setback in their marriage. The patriarch of the Brown family pointed out that they have “been acting like we weren’t a married couple for most of our marriage.” Janelle couldn’t take it anymore at some point, and she stated, “Whether he can’t manage my independence, I don’t know if this works for me anymore.”
“If she wanted to move on and marry another,” he says, “she wouldn’t get into an argument with me.” In addition, the clip shows Robyn being admitted to the hospital while she fights COVID-19. Kody then confesses that he started “wondering if she was going to live” after hearing the news. He also gets into yet another heated argument with Janelle, ultimately resulting in her departure.
