Dana White Blames Conor McGregor’s Money For His Fall – ‘That’s what happens when you make over $100million’

Dana White Blames Conor McGregor’s Money For His Fall - ‘That's what happens when you make over $100million’

UFC fans saw Conor McGregor as someone who could fight against anyone at any time. And that was true for some period in time. However, as time passed, McGregor made more and more money and his ‘flame’ in the octagon started fading out. At least that’s how UFC president Dana White sees it.

The UFC president Dana White thinks that the accumulated wealth of Conor McGregor is to blame for his fall in skill in the octagon. According to Dana White, the monstrous net worth of the Notorious played a part in his latest losing streak in the octagon.

Conor McGregor is still one of the highest-paid fighters on the UFC roster. He reached the top in MMA when he held both the lightweight and the featherweight UFC title becoming one of the few who managed to do so. However, the most money he’s made is with his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather. It is rumored that his payment check was somewhere in the region of $150 million.

Ever since his boxing debut, the fall in his UFC career is evident. He won only one out of four bouts, giving him a losing streak of three. While losing the fights, Conor McGregor sustained several injuries as well. And this just adds to worsening his following performances. Ever since his major bingo $150 million boxing debut, he is averaging less than a fight a year.

Dana White says that Conor McGregor has absolutely lost his ability to fight at a short notice, and in one period he was able to do so at all times. Dana White knew he could take a short notice replacement fights. In 2015 he faced Chad Mendez instead of Jose Aldo, the next year he went two weight classes up, so he can fight Nate Diaz. But, that is over. Ever since he is not the same man.

“All the people on the outside didn’t see the things that I saw.” – Dana White in a recent podcast guesting. “Everybody’s like ‘yeah he loves Conor’, but why do I love Conor? Because he makes money? Everybody makes money. I like Conor because I was in the trenches with Conor.”

“I’d walk into the house that he rents in Vegas, tell him that we switched the fight.” – the UFC president recalls. “Believe me, there are a lot of guys who talk about how they would have fought this guy or this and that. When I’m on the phone saying ‘here we go, we’ve got four days and we’re changing opponents’, the stories change behind the scenes. I was there every single time, never flinched, never hesitated. He’d take any fight.”

“He believed in himself, and fought these fights when people thought he wasn’t ready. And the kid made a ton of money. When you say Conor hasn’t had a good run lately, that’s what happens when you’re his age and make over $100million. Money changes everything.”

The world is awaiting for Conor McGregor’s comeback. He is on pause ever since he fought Dustin Poirier in July last year and broke his leg. The Notorious could face several different options for his comeback fight. He plans to come back as a welterweight, so he could have several different paths to a title shot.
