Following AEW Grand Slam, we’re seeing a third reign as AEW World Champion for Jon Moxley – but it might not last very long. During the opening match of All Out 2022, MJF would claim the victory in the Casino Ladder Match, gaining a shot at the AEW World Championship at a time of his choosing in the process. Now, it’s almost certain that MJF will claim the AEW World Championship, but how will fans react to this?
MJF Always Gets A Loud Reaction From Fans
Right now, MJF is the most popular name on the AEW roster. From the moment he walked onto the stage following CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley at All Out and got cheered over the hometown hero of Punk – it was clear how fans will react to him as champion. Many have felt MJF should have been AEW World Champion well before now – and the time is finally right.
His issues with Tony Khan have put him down an anti-hero path in AEW, something akin to Stone Cold. Despite him all in all being a bastard in terms of character, and him insulting every town he walks into – he gets positive reactions. Even when he isn’t getting cheered, MJF gets some of the loudest reactions every time he shows up.
‘Only As Good As Your Last Match’ Doesn’t Apply To MJF
When it comes to the AEW World Championship, there is a certain level of in-ring ability expected of it’s champions. The old saying goes that you’re only as good as your last match, but that might not exactly be true for MJF. His last two matches were being squashed by current TNT Champion Wardlow, and walking to the ring to be handed the win at All Out – with his last true in-ring showing coming all the way back in March when he met CM Punk in a Dog Collar match.
MJF doesn’t show up in the ring often, but when he does – the results are nothing short of fantastic. His matches with Punk, Darby Allin, Chris Jericho, Hangman Page, and previous match against Jon Moxley show this plain as day. Next week on AEW Dynamite he’s set to wrestle Wheeler Yuta – which should remind everyone how good he is in the ring.
