Meghan Markle has revealed that she envied Paris Hilton when she was growing up.
Meghan Markle Envied Paris Hilton Growing Up
Her comments were an expansion on her recent interview with Hilton, as part of her ‘Archetypes’ podcast on Spotify.
During the course of that process, Meghan spoke about her personal experience of being objectified during her time on ‘Deal or No Deal’ as a briefcase model.
So much so that she made the comparison of being viewed as a bimbo, which was the archetype that she wanted to break down. But at one point, Meghan admitted that she was dissatisfied when she was growing up since she did not feel she was attractive.
In an interview with Variety, she said: “I grew up as the smart one. So much of what I ended up thinking about, when I thought about Paris, was envy and judgment — two of the most dangerous things.
“But then you hear about her trauma and her life and her buying into this persona.” Meghan has come a long way since then, which may have been in part due to Paris’ trauma which she mentioned. Hilton recently recalled being sexually abused at Provo Canyon School, Utah.
And given that she had to endure this during a period of 11 months at the institution, coupled with the fact that she has been very vocal about such institutions needing to reform, Hilton’s experience was very traumatic.
In some comments at the time, she remarked: “It was really scary, and it’s something that I really had blocked out for many years. But it’s coming back all the time now, and I think about it…That was definitely sexual abuse.”
The fans on social media, however, did not resonate with Meghan’s revelations. A certain subset of people felt that she was simply associating herself with successful people in order to make things about herself.
And by the looks of it, the comments were very harsh indeed. One person wrote: “Ugly duckling? Poor Megain. Victim again. Capitalizing on victimhood while also proclaiming herself to be smart and pretty.
“This woman has no humility.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
