On this “Wrestling Salvage Yard”, we’re looking at one of my favorite WCW cruiserweights in the Fabulous Blitzkrieg and his brief run in WCW.
WCW Career
This will probably be our shortest career recap. After debuting in 1995 on the California indies, Fabulous Blitzkrieg hit WCW in July 1998 and shortened his name to Blitzkrieg.
A flashy as hell high-flyer, he mixed it up very well with both the luchadors and the American daredevils.
When he made his TV debut against Rey Mysterio, it was a losing effort but a good showcase of what he could do. I actually wanted to see more of the guy.
He would be featured on television and PPV regularly losing most of the time. In September 1999 after losing a number one contender’s bout to Evan Karagias, Blitzkrieg hung up the boots and mask and left to work full time as computer tech.
It was a short, speedy stint and career for a lucha-inspired daredevil who was before this time for what the east coast indies’ junior heavyweights had cooking up for the new millennium.
Salvaging Fabulous Blitzkrieg in WCW
Honestly, Blitzkrieg didn’t need to be salvaged as be decided to retire roughly five years into his career to enter another field.
He managed to get out mostly in one piece, so this would be more like pure fantasy booking as there wasn’t a ton done with him in the year that he was there.
There’s just not enough to work with, folks. On that note, as I said before Fabulous Blitzkrieg was one of the exciting new American cruisers during the late 90s and would’ve definitely been at home on the east coast independents at that time.
