Earlier this year, WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg would become a free agent. His final contract with WWE came to an end, and despite being promised a retirement match – it never came about. Due to this, Goldberg is now looking elsewhere for the final matches of his career, and one option is All Elite Wrestling.
Tony Khan Has A Good Relationship With Bill Goldberg
While speaking at the Double Or Nothing post-show media scrum, Tony Khan would speak on perhaps the biggest free agent in professional wrestling.
“Yeah, I have talked to Bill. It wouldn’t be that unusual. I’ve talked to Bill when he’s not been under contract at times, and I have a good relationship with Bill. I have had a good conversation with him, but I’ve had a lot of great conversations with Bill. His family has done a lot of great things in Jacksonville, he’s related to the Wolfson family, who built the Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville. Bill is a great former football star, I worked in football, and it’s a big part of my life. We have a lot in common and we have a lot of mutual friends, and I have a really good relationship with Bill. I like him a lot. As to what I’ve talked to him about, I would say that’s just between the two of us. It was a good chat. I like Bill a lot, he’s a great guy,”
AEW Is The Modern WCW
AEW is viewed by many as a spiritual successor to WCW – where Goldberg got his start in the industry. Saturday Night Collision has drawn inspiration from WCW Monday Nitro on it’s logo. While CM Punk is set to be the star of the show – Goldberg showing up wouldn’t be the worst move to boost viewership for this new show.
Goldberg was recently in the news due to an injury suffered due to a tractor – but is still intending to wrestle some matches. One name in AEW who wants to face Goldberg is Wardlow, who is fresh off a victory over Christian Cage in a ladder match.
