Even though AEW Dark Elevation is basically useless, Dark is the key to making Dark Elevation relevant. The key to this is making Dark a legit jumping board to the main shows. There are multiple ways to do this but let’s talk about the basic foundation to what they should do to start making this happen.
What AEW Can do to Improve AEW Dark
For those that don’t know what AEW Dark is, it is AEW’s C show that is broadcast on YouTube and actually have a large following and get many views.
From the times that I watched, I actually liked it more than Dynamite and Rampage because I get to see wrestlers that I’m not familiar with.
I will say that for the most point the matches are mostly squash matches to pad the record stats for the signed talent, but I do see enhancement talent on the show that peak my interest.
The main thing that AEW can do to improve AEW Dark is to separate the rosters and have certain people down there to only work on Dark and Elevation.
There are many wrestlers that AEW have that they don’t use at all. If they aren’t using them, put them on Dark and build them up down there.
Keep some of the more known wrestlers that they have like Claudio off of the show but people like Powerhouse Hobbs and many of the undercard that they have can stay down there until they actually have a reason for them to be on Dynamite and Rampage.
With the size of the AEW roster, they won’t miss the wrestlers that they put exclusively on Dark. Make sure that the ones that they put down there aren’t needed on Dynamite and Rampage.
I know there are many people that are against another roster split in wrestling but this is basically taking the people who have potential to take TV time away from the older more experienced wrestlers that they want to use now.
Who Would the Main Wrestlers Be?
If you are doing a split for Dark and Elevation, who do you send there? Of course, you could start from scratch and build some stars from nothing.
This is very time consuming, but what would make me actually be a fan of AEW is if AEW would slowly start phasing out the former WWE talent that they have (with an exception of Mox, Jericho, Daniel Bryant, and a few others).
The best thing that AEW have going is MJF and he is doing absolutely great with what they are doing. MJF is synonymous with AEW, not WWE.
As far as AEW Dark goes, Dante Martin could be the main star on the show. He is very talented and don’t really have a direction on the larger shows.
Some other people who could be stars on Dark is Dyamante for the women. They could put Private Party on the show to head up the tag teams.
I also think that some of the acts like The Trust Busters could be big and benefit from being only on Dark and Elevation.
While this is only the tip of what is needed to start to rehibilitate Dark but this would be big and make fans who want to see these stars tune in on a most consistent basis while giving a large part of their roster something to do.
