On the most recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Kim Menzies dealt with the emotional turmoil of losing a family member while fiancé Usman “Sojaboy” Umar made room for a new addition to the family.
After having a talk in which she told Usman, 33, “I’m scared about our future,” the 52-year-old woman had difficulty understanding how her new family may look on Sunday’s show. She had previously said, “I’m afraid about our future.” He dropped a bomb instead of paying attention: “I feel like maybe I’m going to adopt.” “What? What? Are you joking right now?” Kim asked.

Usman clarified, “If getting a second wife is something that can’t happen, I think adopting my nephew Mahadi would be the best idea.” The couple has battled with the challenges of parenthood, which are complicated by Kim’s age yet expected by Usman’s mother. Usman taking a second wife specifically to have children was the plan they had decided on. Unfortunately, a lawyer advised them that while this is acceptable in his native Nigeria, it would negatively affect his ability to obtain a visa for the United States.
Usman, therefore, decided to adopt Mohammed’s son to start a family. Kim was uncomfortable with the idea: “So your brother gives you his baby. What? Then who the f—- raises his child?” “I’m asking, do you want to raise him,” Usman retorted. No, I’m too old, replied Kim. “I don’t know if I want to raise another child as I raised mine; you know what I’m saying?”
The call ended with the couple agreeing to speak further about the issues at hand, but Kim was less cheerful later in a confessional, saying, “I’m completely stunned. Like, this is a WTF moment” Kim mentioned earlier in the program that she had recently lost her mother suddenly, not long after she had returned from Nigeria. As Kim and her son Jamal strolled along the boardwalk in San Diego, they spoke about Kim’s mother, whom Kim had lived with and taken care of for the previous eight years.
Even more light-heartedly, Jamal said, “Well, Usman’s practically my age so you can take care of him.” For Kim, it was almost too soon; she winced before grinning. “You’ve got Usman, and regardless of how I feel about him, he is supportive of you, so I appreciate it,” the 25-year-old told Kim to keep going. “I feel like my mom is not someone who loves being alone, but she also knows I’m a phone call away, and I’ll be on that aircraft whenever she needs me,” he stated in a later confessional.
One aspect of Kim’s connection with Usman was brought into sharper focus after her mother’s demise. “It’s super important to me now, with my mom’s passing, that Usman comes to the States to be with me,” she said.
