Both families didn’t consent to their union, and this affected them drastically but they worked hard to sustain their relationship. At one point, the love was one-sided as only Chantel was forcing him to love her but unfortunately, Pedro filed for a divorce.

Moving on, fans have been so supportive of Chantel and claimed Pedro cheated on her and played her. Recently, several fans feel Chantel’s controlling attitude made her relationship hit the rock. Over time, viewers have accused Pedro of not dedicating much time and effort to making their marriage work.
Now, they think he only needed time to come around but his ex-wife wasn’t helping matters with her narcissistic nature. “She’s only ‘fighting for the relationship’ because she can not fathom that someone doesn’t want to be with her,” a Reddit user, IslandSavings800 wrote.
Since Chantel first appeared on TLC, Pedro has stood by her several times. A fan claimed that Pedro stood by her all the twelve years of her degree by working in a warehouse to fend for her. He did everything to make her feel loved. However, Chantel didn’t reciprocate when Pedro became more socially active.
She was blinded by insecurities and jealousy, and she failed to trust her husband. Several fans think Chantel played the victim’s card and TLC came out clean. Pedro “had been more transparent with everything and been more understanding of HER work life from the beginning,” says TLC.
However, his wife wasn’t like that. She rather lied to paint him badly to viewers on the show. A Redditor also pointed out that she started lying to him from the early days of their relationship. Fans hope she works on that bad attitude as she moves on to new relationships.
