Jon Moxley is not a happy man. He is no longer the AEW World Champion, but what stung more was being stabbed in the back by William Regal. Moxley came face to face with Regal last week, and was ready to not just end the career of Regal – but his life. The only thing that stopped him was Bryan Danielson, and tonight – Moxley has a lot to say as he kicks the show off.
Hangman Page Returns To Confront Jon Moxley
When Moxley first started his career, he would wrestle in Indianapolis quite often, and it’s been a long and wild ride. However, since he came to AEW he’s been the top of the food chain – the AEW ring belongs to him, and there is not a man in the building who has the balls to come to his ring and tell him any differently.
However – Hangman Page was here, and he has unfinished business with Moxley. It was Moxley who put Page on the shelf with a nasty concussion, and Moxley asked if he was sure this was what he wanted to do after last time. No time for talking, Page would just lay Moxley out – and kick off a brawl.
It was not known if Page was even cleared yet, but it’s clear that once he can return to the ring – he’s going right after Moxley. It would talk all the staff available to hold these two apart, and this feud is just getting started.
Dax Harwood Goes One On One With
Dax Harwood has had one incredible year, and he’s called for another match to cap it off. While he’s mainly known for being a member of FTR and dominating the tag team divisions in NJPW, AAA & ROH – Harwood has had some high profile singles matches. Tonight, he’s called out The American Dragon, Bryan Danielson for a match.
Before they even locked up the crowd already had a “This Is Awesome” chant coming. They’d grapple in the middle of the ring to a stalemate before Harwood would duck a roundhouse kick from Danielson. The LeBell Lock would be avoided, and Harwood tried to apply the Sharpshooter before Danielson got the ropes.
Danielson would hit a kick to the face of Harwood, and would get a stomp to the head in response. Harwood kept the heavy strikes coming, showing why he’s known as Dax The Axe with a hefty chop. Danielson would break free and look for the running elbow smash, but it was well scouted.
Harwood would get a springboard crossbody for a two count, before being thrown to the floor and hit with a Suicide Dive that sent him into the front row. They’d trade blows in the crowd, with Harwood hitting a suplex on Danielson taking him over the barricade in the process. Danielson would work his way back into the ring, with Harwood ready to keep the punishment coming.
Bell To Bell Hard Hitting Action
Harwood would mix uppercuts and chops in the corner, before taking a boot to the face. Danielson would hit some elbow smashes and chops of his own, missing the rolling chop and taking a series of German Suplexes. A piledriver would be blocked, with Danielson throwing a roundhouse and ending up spiked with a piledriver anyways.
Danielson was able to kick out at two, before taking Harwood to the floor for some stiff chops. Avalanche Backdrop would be blocked with a crossbody, but Danielson rolled through into the pinfall for a two count. Short arm lariat from Harwood would follow, with Danielson holding his ground before hitting a few of his own.
Both men would start to fade, only to hit two KO worthy lariats – and would go for the follow up at the same time, colliding and collapsing. Danielson would be able to nail the Buzzsaw Kick for a near fall, with Harwood coming back with a slingshot Liger Bomb. Harwood would get a two count, and went right into the Sharpshooter?
Danielson would be able to block into a cradle pinfall, before moving into the LeBell Lock – and Harwood would tap out. The hands of Danielson blocked the vision of Harwood, ensuring he couldn’t get the ropes. Another stellar singles showing for Harwood, and there’s no shame in losing to Bryan Danielson.
