FTR hold three different sets of tag team championships, and tonight they are set to defend the ROH Tag Team Championships against Top Flight. This past Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, FTR asked Top Flight to continue to rise and become the FTR of their generation, and Top Flight responded with a challenge for tonight. It’s a clash of styles, with FTR maintaining a throwback brawling style and Top Flight being insane high flier – making this one a toss up.
FTR Put One Of Their Sets Of Gold On The Line
Dax Harwood would kick things off with Darius Martin, with Darius able to get the successful takedown. Harwood would be able to find his feet and strike Darius down, before making the tag to Wheeler. Dante would duck a back elbow from Wheeler, but the next three strikes landed flush.
A blind tag to Darius would allow Top Flight to catch Wheeler off guard, before breaking him down with a series of strikes before a DDT for a one count. Harwood would trade chops in the middle of the ring with Darius, before taking Dante off the apron. FTR had a double team in mind, but Darius would set up a Sunset Flip – and Dante hit the springboard dropkick to complete the move.
Wheeler would be able to stomp Dante out, before a back suplex for a two count. Some heavy chops in the corner would follow, with Dante trying to match the strikes of Harwood in a losing effort. He’d instead use his speed, setting up a double shotgun dropkick from the top rope to both members of FTR.
Top Flight Soar Into The Path Of A Big Rig
Top Flight would send FTR to the floor, before a double dive kept the pressure on. Back in the ring, Dante hit the flying crossbody, getting a two count. Harwood would fight back with heavy strikes, only to be dropped with an enziguri. Dante would hit a flying headbutt in the FTR corner, before looking for a superplex.
Instead, he would be caught with the slingshot powerbomb from Harwood and a top rope splash from Wheeler for the two count, before Darius made the save. Darius would be dropped with the lariat from Harwood, before FTR looked to set up the Big Rig. Dante would be able to avoid the finisher, and nearly won the titles off a flash pinfall.
Top Flight would work together to have Darius nail a DDT on Harwood, before Dante floated down with the splash. Wheeler would be able to make the save, before Harwood would hit Darius with a brainbuster. Dante would block several suplex attempts from Harwood into pinfall attempts, before FTR would avoid Nose Dive and nail Big Rig for the finish – ensuring FTR walk into Final Battle as ROH Tag Team Champions.
The Gunns would come out to mock FTR following the match, perhaps indicating the match we get at the upcoming ROH PPV. Do you think The Gunns would take some gold away from FTR? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
