Ricky Starks was set to face Lance Archer as part of the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament last Friday on AEW Rampage, but was not medically cleared after being wiped out backstage by The Murderhawk Monster. Tonight, he gets his chance to beat Archer down in return. It’s set to be a long week for whichever man advances, with Brian Cage waiting to face the victor – and the finals of the tournament set for Saturday at Full Gear. Starks has a chance to prove he’s truly Absolute, and Archer has a chance to leave a path of bodies in his wake – but only one of these stories can play out.
Lance Archer Starts This Fight Backstage
This match would start backstage, with Archer pressing Starks up against a loading door. Archer would be able to lawn dart Starks face first into the door, before throwing him around the backstage area. Starks would be dragged out into the crowd, taking a heavy punch to the face and nearly flopping into the lap of a fan.
A chokeslam over the barricade would be countered, with Starks hitting a back elbow before Archer leapt over the barricade into a shoulder tackle. Finally, Starks would be placed into the ring – and the bell would officially ring on this match. The crowd would start up a chant in support of Starks, and he’d send Archer to the floor with a lariat.
Ricky Starks Slips Out With The Victory
Starks would jump off the apron, but was caught into a chokeslam right onto the ring apron. Archer kept the pressure on with some heavy strikes, before taking this one back into the ring. Some crossface blows would follow – with Starks being taken to the corner for the Blackout. Starks would be able to counter and hit a diving shoulder tackle.
Archer would block a tornado DDT attempt from Starks, before dropping him with a deadly lariat. A ripcord lariat would be blocked, with Starks hitting the DDT on the second attempt for a two count. Roshambo would be easily blocked, before Archer would try for the pounce with Starks jumping over it before nailing the Spear for the finish.
Brian Cage would come out to stare Starks down, and Archer would attack Starks from behind – hitting the chokeslam onto the steel steps. Will Ricky Starks even make it to the match with Brian Cage tomorrow? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
