The biggest thing that has happened this week is Austin Theory losing the MITB briefcase in humiliating fashion over an undercard title. This has led to many in the IWC to start bashing him and talking about how he isn’t very good. Let’s see if all of this fuss is enough to get rid of him or does he still have value and be kept for future use.
Keep Them or Release Them: Austin Theory
This should be a no brainer for any wrestling fan with half a brain. Austin Theory is only 25 years old, has a great look, is athletic, and is very good in the ring.
His mic work is decent but he still needs to find his legs in that department. With this being said, there is no way that I would release him.
In his time with the company, they have treated him very well and he never gave any indication that he is unhappy.
With this being said, his character does need some rehabilitation, and unlike most people, I don’t think that it would take much work.
I think that even though people like to label Theory as a Vince project, it was HHH that saw him and HHH that signed him to NXT, so HHH knows what he can do and where he fits into the WWE equation.
Austin Theory: KEEP HIM
If They Would Release Austin Theory
Just a little fantasy booking, if Theory were to be released, what would he do?
I think that he has three routes that he could go with the first one obviously being to go to AEW. I think that this would be a great idea if AEW’s roster wasn’t so bloated.
I don’t think that at the moment, even though Theory would instantly come in and be an upper midcard to main event wrestler, he doesn’t stand out enough to actually be used over some of the other workers that they have already invested in.
The next option would be to go to Impact and I also think that this would bel a solid landing spot. Theory could really use Impact in the same way that wrestlers like Drew McIntyre and EC3 used Impact.
Lastly, Theory could go to Japan to hone his skills. I think that he would fit in but I don’t know if this would be something that he would want to do personally.
