During Full Gear, we got to see what is just the first match in a best of seven series between The Elite & Death Triangle. With this being the first time we saw The Elite since their suspension following the now infamous backstage brawl with CM Punk at All Out – and Full Gear was the start of a whole new era for The Elite. This came complete with new theme music, as they came to the ring for “Carry OnWayward Son” by Kansas, and it was not simply a one time deal.
The Elite To Use Carry On Wayward Son For Trios Matches
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Dave Meltzer had the following to say in regards to his new theme song, and it’s history with The Young Bucks.
“Wayward Son by Kansas that The Elite used on Saturday will be the Trios entrance music. It won’t be used in regular tag or singles matches. Young Bucks wanted the song for a long time. They and their father were big fans of the song. The thoughts by people that had to do with the situation in the past two months was something they were aware of, but the decision to use the song preceded that. In fact, when they were backyarders doing their backyard wrestling promotion in the early 2000s, they used Wayward Son as their entrance music.”
This means that Omega will used Battle Cry for his singles matches, while Young Bucks will use Superkick Party for their tag team matches. This will let AEW keep Wayward Son somewhat special, though The Elite have six trios matches booked with Death Triangle, with one set for tonight’s Thanksgiving episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW has been building up a great soundtrack of licensed theme songs in addition to the output of Mikey Rukus – with others including Wild Thing for Jon Moxley, Cult Of Personality for CM Punk show he show up again, and Jane for Orange Cassidy & Best Friends.
