With WWE basically being group warfare nowadays, why is a monster like Bobby Lashley left by himself? Bobby, Cedric Alexander, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP made up a group that at first was shaky but turned into one of the highlights of Monday Night Raw during the end of the Vince McMahon era of booking. With HHH in charge, I think that The Hurt Business needs to be back in business with a few potential changes that could make them one of top groups in the company.
Bobby Lashley Said He Wants the Gang Back Together
In a recent interview, Bobby Lashley expressed that he misses his guys being by his side. It seemed like as soon as him, Shelton, Cedric, and MVP were just getting their wings under them and they were going to be Monday Night Raw’s version of The Bloodline, their legs was cut from under them for no reason.
When any group starts and nobody know anything about them, they are only as good as their leader. Bobby Lashley was just coming off of his terrible (TERRIBLE) program involving the then, recently released Rusev, and his wife Lana.
Bobby Lashley was being pushed as a babyface that was horrible on the mic and had no charisma. He was a great
power wrestler in the ring though and had an amazing look.
When he hooked up with MVP and let him do the talking for him instead, it was only a matter of time before people started to take notice. After that, how about we take a known quantity in Shelton Benjamin that is solid in the ring, athletic, experienced, and that the fans like and add him to the group.
Lastly, lets get a young up and coming wrestler who is also athletic, great in the ring, and has a great look, and put him in a tag team with the established wrestler, Shelton Benjamin.
When they finally got rolling, they were one of the highlights to an otherwise, unwatchable Monday Night Raw. This was all while Vince McMahon was still running the show, imagine what HHH could do.
He is already making Bobby Lashley look like the monster that he should be. I think that it is known that he thinks very highly of Shelton Benjamin from back during his “Reign of Terror”, Shelton was one of the only people that actually beat him clean on Monday Night Raw on Shelton’s first night on the brand.
I’ve also heard that he is a pleasure to work with. Then you have Cedric Alexander who won a tournament in NXT (I think it was the first Cruiserweight Classic) and had that emotional moment on stage with HHH telling fans that he would be sticking around.
MVP being able to speak for them again would be icing on the cake but with him being with Omos, lets look at two possibilities on new members.
A Previous Member Plus One
At the moment, former Hurt Business manager, MVP is currently managing the giant Omos. This would throw a wrench in that plan especially because MVP got Omos to attack Bobby Lashley and left him lying multiple times on television.
There would have to be some storyline gymnastics to make it make sense to why Bobby would let not only MVP back but Omos as well. I have two ideas on how this could be done.
The first way is the quickest way because it has to do with something that is already being set into motion on Monday Night Raw. Bobby Lashley is becoming an uncontrollable monster and his rage is coming to its peak.
I think that storyline wise, WWE can make Bobby Lashley into such a monster that even a giant like Omos would respect him enough to call him the leader.
This could be done in a match where Lashley beats Omos to the point that he gets himself disqualified or MVP calls for the match to be stopped because it is the only way to make Lashley cease the beatdown.
Afterwards, Omos and MVP asks Bobby Lashley to let them join him to make Lashley near impossible to beat.
The second idea would be to have MVP start the Hurt Business back up with Omos, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander but Shelton and Cedric continues to lose (this would be a great time to get another tag team or wrestler over).
After a few weeks, MVP says that something is missing, and say that they need Bobby Lashley back to give them the edge that they once had.
I think that Omos would fill the role of the muscle of the group and because he is still developing in the ring, he wouldn’t have to do much but stand there and be menacing.
He would still get over because with the entire Hurt Business back around, there is sure to be a lot of beat downs
going around, and who is better at giving beatdowns than a 7’3 monster like Omos… except for Bobby Lashley.
A New Member Out of Left Field
So, with the new group warfare that is going on, there is a common thread between them all. They have the same structure.
If you look at Monday Night Raw, Judgement Day have a singles in Finn Balor, what I’m guessing might be a tag team with Dom and Priest, and a woman with Rhea. The OC has a singles in AJ Styles, a tag team with Gallows and Anderson, and a woman with Mia Yim.
If the Hurt Business want to join in on the fun, they just need a woman to fill out their ranks, but who? Most of the women on Monday Night Raw already have stuff going on and wouldn’t fit the group.
In my opinion, the goal of any group or stable is to get at least one or two of their members over. If not, what’s the point? Looking at the three core members of the group, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin are veterans.
Cedric Alexander, has experience but is still growing and can benefit greatly from the group. I think that with the abundance of experience, they can stand to take a woman from NXT that might be a little green.
At first, I was thinking about The Rock’s daughter, but she got put into a group and is just starting her career. That leaves one person who is still green but could learn from the members of the Hurt Business and be on her way to becoming a very important piece of the Monday Night Raw Roster.
Lash Legend. Lately, she has been doing nothing to note on the NXT roster but she does have television experience down there.
She has constantly been losing and to be honest, don’t look the best in the ring, but she is still young and does show promise that she will get better.
I think that the biggest upside to her is that she is a blank slate that you could do anything with. She is actually talker on the mic and has a natural charisma about her.
She is a former athlete and would probably tower over most of the smaller women on the roster. As far as her in ring goes, make her an athletic power wrestler and let her do what the Hurt Business do the best, hurt people.
