To prove he belongs as NXT North American Champion, Wes Lee will need to do something only Solo Sikoa has done – and that’s pin Carmelo Hayes in a title match. Hayes is a two time champion, and lost the belt the first time in a ladder match, and second time from Sikoa crushing him, only to fail to reclaim it in another ladder match. Tonight, Wes Lee has the chance to silence his doubters, and shut Hayes out of the hunt for the NXT North American Championship in one simple match. Earlier in the night, Trick Williams agreed to remain in the back – letting Hayes win this one on his own.
Wes Lee & Carmelo Hayes Start At Top Speed
They’d lock up hard in the middle of the ring, neither man giving up ground – but Hayes would throw the first punch. Lee would be staggered, before he’d send Hayes out to the floor. A brawl on the floor would see Hayes hit with a lariat over the barricade. Back in the ring, Hayes would be dropped with a hurricanrana, before being taken into a headlock.
Lee would be unable to maintain control of the hold, with Hayes moving into a near fall off a roll up. Both men would go for a pump kick, causing a double down. Lee would be hung up on the ropes for the Fade Away, before Hayes would wrench away on the arm before a roll up for two.
Hayes would apply a tight head and arm choke in the middle of the ring – with Lee breaking free before taking the springboard lariat. Lee would be whipped hard into the corner, before being able to come back and drop Hayes with a German Suplex. A snapmare would be followed by a dropkick to the neck, and a running elbow smash into the corner.
Dijak Lays The NXT North American Champion Out
Hayes would be spiked with a hurricanrana for a two count, before coming back with the La Mistica for a near fall of his own. He’d look for Nothing But Net, with Hayes avoiding before the running meteora for a two count. A rolling wheel kick would send Hayes out to the floor, with Trick Williams coming to cheer Hayes on – before both men were dropped with a dive.
Back in the ring, Lee would nail a backflip kick and a sitout driver – and Hayes was not getting back up from that combo. Still NXT North American Champion after his first successful defence – Wes Lee! Following this, Dijak would hit the ring and nailed Lee with Feast Your Eyes – making his intentions in NXT very clear.
