Four roots, one tree. That’s the new mantra of Schism, after revealing Ava Raine as their fourth member. Looking to move on with their careers – it’s time for them to finally close the door on former NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes. They wanted Grimes to join them, but he refused one too many times – and tonight, Joe Gacy will lock up with Grimes one last time, and put this issue to bed.
The Numbers Edge Of Schism Helps Joe Gacy Get The Win
Grimes would come out fast with some roundhouse kicks to the stomach, before a hurricanrana sent Gacy into the corner. Running boot to the face would follow, before Gacy took control – hitting a snapmare before a quick one count. A forearm smash would land, before Grimes would respond with a kick to the head – sending Gacy to the floor for the PK off the apron.
Back in the ring, Gacy was caught with an arm drag – but could find his feet and rattle the jaw of Grimes with a heavy blow. Some stomps to the back and an elbow drop would follow, getting Gacy a two count. A heavy backdrop would follow, getting another near fall for the de-facto leader of Schism – before he moved into a rear chinlock.
Grimes would fight free only to be hit with a back elbow smash – which Gacy seamlessly turned into a backbreaker. A crossface would be applied, but Grimes fought free and hit the running Spanish Fly in the middle of the ring. Running forearm smashes would follow, with Grimes being distracted by Schism on the floor – but was able to battle through, hitting a superkick into a German Suplex before a flying crossbody.
Schism once again got involved, but Gacy was run into them before taking a Poison Rana. Gacy would flee to the floor to avoid the Cave In – and Grimes wiped out the whole faction with the following dive. Ava Raine would shove Grimes off the top rope, and the Upside Down Lariat found the victory for Gacy.
Carmelo Hayes Wants His Gold Back
Last week, we’d see Carmelo Hayes be the man to cost Wes Lee & Bron Breakker their match against Pretty Deadly – preventing them from becoming NXT Tag Team Champions. Still bitter about no longer holding the NXT North American Championship, getting involved in the business of Lee shows that he’s not giving up on the prospect of his third reign as champion. Tonight, we catch up with Hayes & Trick Williams – from their favorite barber shop.
People have been talking about what is next for Hayes, and he would remind everyone that he made that belt famous – and no one in NXT has pinned him for that title in a sanctioned match. Wes Lee deserves respect, he went through hell to win that belt – but he never truly beat Hayes.
As far as Hayes is concerned – Lee is nothing but a paper champion. Williams would call him a transitional champion, and Hayes agrees. While he’s good, he’s going to have to defeat Hayes to be great. This match is set to happen in two weeks on NXT.
Can Hayes win the belt for a third time? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
