At Final Battle, Wheeler Yuta has a chance to regain the ROH Pure Rules Championship, but tonight will team with Claudio Castagnoli to take on Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager of the Jericho Appreciation Society in tag team action. Castagnoli also has a chance to regain lost ROH gold on Saturday, but if he fails to defeat ROH World Champion Chris Jericho – he will be forced to join the JAS. This could be his final stand as a member of Blackpool Combat Club, and Castagnoli will never go down without a fight.
Blackpool Combat Club Runs Down Jake Hager & Daniel Garcia
Jon Moxley would be in the corner of Castagnoli & Yuta, while Sammy Guevera was in the corner of Hager & Garcia. Yuta would start with Hager, as Castagnoli was thrown Hagers favourite hat – only for it to be kicked into the crowd. Now enraged, Hager would go after Yuta with a big shoulder tackle and some clubbing chops in the corner.
Garcia got the tag and traded chops with Yuta, before taking a scoop slam and senton for a two count. Castagnoli & Hager would hit the ring, with some “We The People” chants ringing out from the crowd who knew their past. Hager was taken down with a hip toss, before Yuta came off the middle rope with a dropkick.
Painthriller to Garcia would follow, sending him to the floor alongside Hager before a dive to both men. Yuta went up top, but Garcia shoved him off into a body slam from Hager before a Hager Bomb for a two count. Castagnoli would be taken off the apron, as Yuta would corner Garcia and take him down with a Superplex.
Hager would corner Yuta with a choke, before Guevara got a cheap shot in. Yuta would send Hager to the floor with a low bridge of the ropes, but was pulled to the floor and thrown into the barricade instead. Garcia would mock Castagnoli & Moxley as he applied a rear chinlock, with Yuta fighting free for a German Suplex.
Final AEW Appearance Of William Regal Fires Blackpool Combat Club Up
Castagnoli would rock Hager with some uppercuts before a hurricanrana for a near fall. Garcia made the save, but was taken down quickly. Hager tried for the ankle lock, but instead took the Giant Swing. Guevara tried to stop Castagnoli from springboarding, and was run down by an angry Moxley. Big uppercut followed, and this match was over.
Tony Schiavone would bring up some footage of an interview with Regal from a few weeks ago. Thirty years they’ve been friends, and he was unsure why this happened at Full Gear. This interview was only supposed to air if something bad happened. He gave MJF what he wanted, and he’s World Champion. Be careful what you wish for, as now everyone wants MJF.
Blackpool Combat Club wouldn’t let him leave, but he had nothing left to teach them. He did what he did to teach them his final lesson. Stay one step ahead, keep eyes in the back of your head – make Yuta the best wrestler possible. Regal would sign off, his final AEW appearance.
Moxley would be asked for his thoughts. Him, Castagnoli & Yuta live and breathe professional wrestling. Call them what you want. This Saturday, this feud with the JAS ends. Jon Moxley issues an open challenge for ANYONE in the world to challenge him as he makes a statement. Castagnoli made their statement on Saturday. Stronger than ever before is Blackpool Combat Club.
Jamie Hayter Ups The Stakes For AEW Rampage Women’s Match
Despite being the AEW Women’s World Champion, Jamie Hayter has not gotten the same respect as the likes of Saraya or Toni Storm. They both got interview time, while Hayter got nothing. Tonight that changes, as Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D pulled some strings to ensure Hayter gets a sit down interview with Tony Schiavone tonight. What will the champion have to say?
Hayter was baffled by the choice to not have a sitdown interview before now. She’d be asked on the state of the women’s division. However she’s on top – and she will do her duty to be reigning and defending. She’ll be watching the match between Hikaru Shida & The Bunny over the Regina Di WAVE Championship match on Rampage – and the winner will get a title shot.
Hayter intends to be a fighting champion, and a bloody great one at that. Who will be able to challenge Hayter first? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
