Since 2019, All Elite Wrestling has been a rising name in professional wrestling. Coming out of the gates with a major TV deal and a roster full of top names like Chris Jericho & Jon Moxley allowed them to quickly grow in popularity. Few would say they’ve had a flawless run in the following years, with some growing pains in terms of how their shows have been presented and their women’s division. However, AEW’s owner Tony Khan has confirmed their shows will be getting a new look come January 4th.
Tony Khan Reveals AEW Will Get A New Look Starting On January 4th
While speaking with TV Insider, Tony Khan would tease that AEW Dynamite & AEW Rampage will be getting a change in their looks to kick off a new year. Khan would be quoted saying the following.
“I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag necessarily, especially so close to the big day. But at the start of 2023, we’re going to open the year on Wednesday, January 4 with the first Dynamite in Seattle, marking a full year of Dynamite on TBS. We’ll definitely have a new look, to say the least. I’m excited about it. I think it’s a nice thing to present to the fans, but frankly, I’ve found more so than ever, the more you talk about these things. When you build them up, you don’t want to create expectations that are impossible. I will say the set will be beautiful though. The look of Rampage will also be different. This will affect the way people view AEW on Wednesdays and Fridays in terms of presentation with the set and the show with the same great action.”
January 4th is set to be a major show for AEW, with Ricky Starks vs. Chris Jericho being the first match announced for the event. FTR & Kenny Omega will not be on the show, with commitments taking them to Tokyo, Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 coming first. Bryan Danielson is expected to have a major role, with it being the first AEW show in his home state.
