Not all retirements in professional wrestling are big deals, sometimes – they’re quiet affairs. This might well be the case for Biff Busick, known by some fans as Oney Lorcan during his time in WWE NXT – where he’s a former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion. Known for his hard hitting and frantic style, Busick is heading back to WWE – but doesn’t know if he’s having anymore matches, announcing what could be his retirement.
Biff Busick Is Returning To WWE In A Backstage Role
In a post to his Twitter account, Busick would have the following to say.
In 2022, I stepped away from performing in the ring. I’m not sure if I’ve had my last match, but if I have, I had a blast. Thank you to anyone I got to share a ring with. Thank you to all the fans. I’m really looking forward to working with WWE NXT in 2023. Happy New Year!!!
It was assumed Busick was returning to WWE when earlier this year, he stopped taking independent bookings. Now, we know he will be working in some role with NXT in the new year – likely as a full time trainer in the WWE Performance Center, where he can teach the next generation of professional wrestlers how to hit opponents very hard (but in a safe way).
Retirement On Own Terms Is Always For The Best In Professional Wrestling
Busick is stepping away from the ring on his own accord, and choosing how to start the next stage of his career. Not everyone has that chance, with Jason Jordan & Tyson Kidd two notable examples in WWE who had their careers cut short due to injury. While Busick could still go with the best in WWE – this choice could give him a job for life.
Notable matches Busick had following his WWE release saw him wrestle the likes of Jon Moxley, Minoru Suzuki, Brody King, Low Ki and Mike Bailey. His final match as of the time of writing was against Alec Price as Beyond Please Come Back III: Beyond Wrestling Vs. Wrestling Open in June of 2022.
