At the start of 2022, it seemed like there was a clear angle in play with All Elite Wrestling. Adam Cole had taken control of The Elite, and all signs were pointing towards a major trios match when Kenny Omega would return from injury, putting Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish against Omega & The Young Bucks. However, Cole & O’Reilly would fall to injury, and Fish would exit the company shortly after.
Bobby Fish Sees Lots Of Money Left On The Table In AEW
While speaking on the Wrestling Perspective podcast, Fish would have the following to say about the missed chances that came during his time on the AEW roster.
“I feel like with AEW, especially with Adam and Kyle, once we were there and history that we had — with let’s say like the Bucks and you could even roll the Briscoes — there was a lot of money on the table that I hoped we would visit, and it just didn’t go that way.”
Cole & O’Reilly Went Down To Injury As Kenny Omega Returned
Right now, Cole is still not cleared to return to the ring after suffering a concussion at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, while Kyle O’Reilly has undergone neck fusion surgery. Omega would return to the ring ahead of All Out 2022, where he won the newly introduced AEW World Trios Championships alongside The Young Bucks, before being suspended after a backstage brawl with CM Punk. The Elite is currently feuding with Death Triangle, with Match #5 of a Best of Seven Series happening on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite.
Fish has since made his debut for Impact Wrestling, and also won his professional kickboxing debut. It was reported initially that Fish was expected to return to WWE, but talks have fizzled out between Fish & WWE. The door for an AEW return remains open, provided Cole & O’Reilly are able to return to the ring.
