Royal Staff Had Secret Code Names For Harry And Meghan-Dubbed The ‘Persons Who Live Overseas’
That is according to royal author Gyles Brandreth in his book entitled, ‘Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait.’ Staff are said to have snubbed the couple by referring to them by a nickname.
This would fit in line with the claims that Meghan had been bullying members of royal staff. While an inquiry had been held, the findings were not published in order to protect the privacy of those involved.
As for the actual nicknames, there have been plenty of things mentioned previously. Based on prior reports, we can get an insight into the interactions with royal staff and the Sussexes.
A report indicated that the couple were referred to as Monica and Chandler, the couple who graced the screens on the hit show Friends.
But rather than this being viewed in a positive way, it appears that these names were anything but that. Specifically, Meghan’s reference to Monica was done to highlight her bossy nature.
With that being said, Gyles did not hold back. In his book, he wrote: “Whenever the names of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex come up in court circles, courtiers flinch and change the subject or refer to them as ‘persons who live overseas.”
That was not the only reference to them, though. It turns out that things had gotten so bad that staff changed their behaviour when it came to addressing the Sussexes. But in an attempt to keep things cordial, every effort had been taken to avoid as much controversy as possible.
This is understandable since King Charles III did make it clear in his first speech to the nation that he wished the couple the best with their lives overseas.
Gyles added: “If Harry and Meghan are mentioned to members of the Royal Family, they simply smile briefly and say ‘we wish them all the best’ and nothing else.”
