Britney Spears father, Jamie Spears has finally spoken up exclusively about the 13-year conservatorship, which controlled virtually every aspect of singer’s life. Jamie has said that he is not the monster his daughter’s followers think he is.
Britney’s ex-husband, Kevin Federline is set to publish a book about fatherhood in the midst of public drama, and ahead of the book, Britney’s dad is saying that he saved her. “My God, where would she be without that conservatorship now? I ain’t gonna paint you no pretty pictures. “That conservatorship was one hell of a time, and without it I don’t know if she would be alive now.”
Britney Spears Father, Jamie Spears Says Without The Conservatorship, “I Don’t Know If She Would Be Alive Now.”
Jamie has been accused of wanting to have power over his daughter to line his own pockets and micro-manage her career. He says he still adores his daughter. “I love my daughter with all my heart and soul,” he says. “This situation between us is just terrible.”
The singer’s dad also backed a recent claim by his daughter’s ex-husband, Kevin Federline that the court order did not have any bad effect on their relationship with her sons Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16. He said the order only made it possible for her to rebuild it.
In a chat with the Sun on Sunday, one year after Britney’s freedom. Jamie said: “I don’t believe she would’ve got the kids back without the conservatorship.” Jamie and Kevi shared custody with the boys during most of those 13 years, and he says that they worked together to make sure they saw Britney and form a relationship with her – starting with one-hour visits on Sunday afternoons. “They didn’t miss no time with their mother.
They didn’t miss no time with their father,”he adds. “My main purpose was to get Britney back with her kids in a comfortable relationship. “And the conservatorship, like I said, gave Kevin a sense of peace and protection. The judge’s rules (which required Jamie to supervise Britney’s access time with her sons) were a great tool. “They allowed us to help the kids, but also to protect Britney too.
Had the conservatorship not been there, she would never have got her boys back.” Jamie also said that he and Britney had “good times under the conservatorship” and that it gave the boys a sense of normality. “We could all help get the boys to and from the doctors, they didn’t ever go to school one day without lunch. The conservatorship also made sure that the boys never left that house without security.”
Jamie said that the court arrangements also helped his daughter rebuild her finances. In 2008, Britney was estimated to have been worth about $50million (£41million) at the time of the conservatorship, but Jamie said the money is gone.He says, “She was broke. She had no money whatsoever. The conservatorship set a resource where she could get back financially.
And, you know, we worked — and she worked — and she got herself straight up financially.” Britney has been acting erratic since she gained her freedom, and her fans are worried about her. She took to Instagram last year to say that during the conservatorship “it felt like my dad was trying to kill me”, and deleted her account afterwards. She is however, back to social media, posting nude pictures.
In fact, Birtney’s son did not attend her wedding. Jayden said there was “no hate”, but said the current rift would be difficult to mend. “When she gets better I really want to see her again” he said. However, Britney branded her sons “hateful” and accused them of “abandoning me”.
Jamie says that he has no intentions of biting back at his daughter and her fans, who think he is a bad guy. “I know it’s all lies,” he says, “and I am being careful not to do or say anything that might affect her mental health.”
