There are usually two schools of thought when it comes to professional wrestling, one is it’s a sport of tough guys, and the other is it’s entertainers pretending to be tough guys.
The truth is it’s a mix of both, and that makes sense. Hulk Hogan was an entertainer, and by all reports so is Roman Reigns.
The Road Warriors were tough guys, but so were most of the people in the sport in the time. There are still plenty of tough guys around, and one of them is Kevin Owens.
Kevin Owens is Dealing with a Slew of Injuries
We’re not talking about wrestling stiff or being a bully, but being tough when it comes to working through injuries. Injuries and pain can make cowards of us all, and it takes a special sort to keep going out and putting on matches that still look good.
Kevin Owens is going through that at the moment, and it speaks to his character that he keeps going out to entertain us.
Finding a way
Owens appeared on WWE After The Bell where he talked about a slew of subjects from Sami Zayn to how he’s feeling.
“I guess I’m fine, I think. It really changes by the day. You could ask me that question tomorrow and I’m feeling awful, but today I’m okay. I’ll get out of my car and my back could be shot and I’m not aware until I start walking. The last few months have been interesting in that aspect. I’ll wake up fine and by 2 o’clock, my knees don’t work. It really hasn’t started hitting me until recently, honestly. These weird aches and pains will come and go. In this moment, I’m sitting in my truck, I feel great.”
He talked about facing Jey Uso on Raw and some of the difficulties he faced going into the match.
“My back was really bothering me going into it already, and I’ve had knee issues the last few weeks. I went in feeling pretty beat up, but it worked out really good and I think everyone enjoyed the match, and so did I. It’s nice to walk away from it all with people enjoying what you do.”
Aches and pains are part of any sport, and we hope he heals up soon. As great as it is to see him in the ring, we don’t want to see him injure himself long term and wish him the best.
It’s important to note that as far as his knees go, there have been numerous reports about him having an MCL sprain and other injuries, and at one point he was supposed to be out for a few weeks but appeared that week.
