After a hard first World Tag League, Alex Coughlin & Gabriel Kidd got their first victory against House of Torture recently. Tonight, they have a chance for another big victory – as they have a chance to shut down the hopes of Bishamon winning back to back tournaments. At 10 points and two matches left to go, Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI have a chance to still make the finals – but each match is a must win for the former champions.
Hirooki Goto is well known to the LA Dojo class, having trained alongside them in 2019 as he prepared for the G1 Climax. Knowing the brutal style of both Goto & LA Dojo head trainer Katsuyori Shibata, it was not a fun time for rookies like Coughlin or Kidd – adding an extra wrinkle to tonight’s match. Kidd is also currently modelling himself after Hiroyoshi Tenzan, a man who had a violent feud with Goto in the past – giving way to the Ushigoroshi, a move which Goto designed to injure the neck of Tenzan, roughly translating to “Bull Killer”.
Bishamon Don’t Hold Their Punches Against LA Dojo
Kidd would call to start with Goto, locking up hard in the middle of the ring, with Kidd shoved to the ropes. Goto allowed for a clean break, only for Kidd to come forward with a kick to the midsection. They’d trade shoulder tackles in the middle of the ring, with Goto able to knock Kidd down – before running into a dropkick.
YOSHI-HASHI got the blind tag as Goto ran Kidd down with another shoulder tackle, before being launched into a Senton. Coughlin tried to make the save, but was beaten down with the WarDrum. Kidd would work on fighting back with some kicks to the face, before Coughlin ran YOSHI-HASHI down with a shoulder tackle.
A senton from Kidd would follow, before the wishbone leg snap. Coughlin would flaunt his power with a deadlift Gutwrench Suplex, before a deadlift backdrop driver for a two count. Kidd would take YOSHI-HASHI out to the floor and drive him into the barricade – hoping for a countout finish.
Back in the ring, YOSHI-HASHI would hit a basement dropkick, allowing the tag to Goto. Kidd would get off the apron before Goto could take him down, allowing for Coughlin to apply a Full Nelson – setting up Goto for a stiff chop from Kidd. Goto would run both men down with a double lariat, before the spinning wheel kick into a running bulldog on Coughlin for a two count.
Gabriel Kidd Falls To A Violent Flash
Ushigoroshi would be blocked, with Coughlin lifting Goto into a running Death Valley Driver. Kidd would hit the ring and called for a Tenzan style brainbuster, but was unable to get Goto up before being wiped out with a stiff lariat. YOSHI-HASHI hit the ring and traded chops with Kidd, being dropped with a double chop before being thrown into a lariat by Coughlin.
Kidd would launch YOSHI-HASHI with the Exploder Suplex, before Coughlin hit the Fallaway Slam. Tenzan Body Press would follow, but Goto broke the pinfall up. Coughlin would try to powerbomb Kidd onto YOSHI-HASHI, but missed and only got canvas. Goto would hit the Ushigoroshi on Coughlin, forcing Kidd to fight off Bishamon alone.
He’d manage to strike both men down before looking for the Butterfly Suplex, only to be blocked and hit with the Violent Flash. Coughlin was kept off the apron, and Bishamon would nail Shoto to get the win and keep their tournament dreams alive for now.
