Ace Austin & Chris Bey were looking unbeatable as a tag team, winning four straight tournament matches – before losing to who Bey mocked as a ‘makeshift tag team’ in YOH & Lio Rush. Tonight they face a very established tag team in former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Flying Tiger. Taking a loss in a round robin style tournament is fine, so long as you don’t spiral in response – which is what fans will be watching for tonight with the BULLET CLUB duo.
Ace Austin & Chris Bey Make A Legend Fold
Eagles would kick things off against Austin, taking him down in the middle of the ring with a wrist lock. Austin would slip free and hit a stiff kick to the spine, before Bey would go after Tiger Mask, tearing at the mask. BULLET CLUB would corner the legend, before Austin would slice between the fingers with a card hidden up his sleeve.
Tiger would kick his way free, before Eagles dropped Bey with a running headscissor takedown. Double knee smash in the corner would follow, getting a two count. Bey would have his knee stomped, before Eagles would look to crash down onto it with a 450 Splash.
Bey would be able to avoid this and hit a back heel kick before taking an Asai DDT. Tiger would hit the ring, and Bey tried to hit a Tiger Driver – but failed. Avalanche Butterfly Suplex would follow, before Tiger Driver would get a two count – Austin breaking the pinfall up.
Bey would duck a superkick from Eagles, causing Tiger to be hit instead. Eagles would try to fight off both halves of BULLET CLUB – sending both to the apron before a double knee strike. Eagles would be hit with a cutter on the floor, while Tiger got a two count off a Crucifix Pinfall in the ring.
He’d move into the double armbar, but Austin found the bottom rope with his boot. Austin would hit the head kick on Tiger before The Fold for the finish. Austin & Bey avoid a losing streak and move to 10 points.
Shane Haste Steals The Victory From Minoru Suzuki
When Suzuki-gun laid siege to Pro Wrestling NOAH in 2015, TMDK were on the frontlines trying to defend the company against them. Because of this, Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls are no stranger to Lance Archer & Minoru Suzuki. Tonight, they will have a violent reunion with old foes in Osaka, and heads might well roll.
Archer & Suzuki would run TMDK down as this match began, with Suzuki meeting Haste in the middle of the ring for some stiff elbow smashes. Haste would avoid an elbow in the corner from Archer, before trying for a back suplex on Suzuki. This would be unsuccessful, with Haste nearly being dropped with the backdrop suplex. Suzuki applied a sleeper hold, Haste titled back into a pinfall and stole this victory!
Will Suzuki-gun look for payback after the tour on TMDK? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
